If you're buying a Prius, you know you're sacrificing engine size and power for gas mileage. That said, the Prius V, with the tech package, is a great road trip car. The adaptive cruise control means that you can set the cruise control for 75 mph and not have to disengage/re-engage cruise control if vehicles ahead of you change speed. If you're going cross-country, the car can warn you of bad weather in the area. It handles really well on slick roads because of front-wheel drive. The one downside is that the built-in GPS is of fairly poor quality, but for longer trips, I use a stand-alone Garmin.

I wanted a Prius because of its outstanding repair record and amazing gas mileage. I was originally looking for a standard Prius. However, after comparing the Prius and the Prius V side by side, I opted for the larger cargo area. I was concerned that with the Prius V, I would have to give up 4 mpg as it is rated at only, (only!) 44 mpg. However, having the Prius V for three months, my average gas mileage is 48.4! Amazing.

The primary reason to buy a Prius is the fuel economy, but there are many other things to like about the v. The passenger cabin is roomy and comfortable, and the cargo space is massive for a car this size. Some people complain about road noise, but I just turn the stereo up. My only complaint is the heating system seems a little weak. The air conditioning was fine last summer, but the heater seems to take a long time to warm the entire cabin.
