Good mileage for a pickup, fairly comfortable, reliable (so far), lots of utility.
Great 4x4 system, nice clean simple interior, well thought out vehicle. If you do your own oil changes you'll be impressed with the oil drain hole that surrounds the filter. The oil filter is almost vertical, accessed from the top of the motor, there is a lip around where the filter seats, so that when you remove the filter the drips/flows into an outlet that you can place a catch can under. Beats an under the motor, oil going every where, when you unscrew the filter anytime.
I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a used one of these with a manual transmission. I personally hate all of the "convenience" stuff that gets added to vehicles. It just adds cost, and then breaks later. That being said, this truck has most everything I wanted, and not much I didn't. It has 4WD, good ground clearance, good towing, four real doors, decent cargo, and decent maneuverability. There has to be a compromise with a 5 foot bed to make it more drivable, but that's fine for me. I'll use the bed for some pretty ambitious DIY projects, but I'm not a rancher or contractor either! My kid can sit in the back seat, and the dogs can ride in the bed! If you wonder why there's not a sun roof, well, are you really wanting a TRUCK?! One slight design thing. Personally, the suspension is a little geared for comfort, but really, this is something that might be different on another package, or could be tweaked by an owner. Also, I've never been a Japanese vehicle person. But they're supposed to be impeccably engineered. That being said, there's a couple of weird little things, like a windshield gasket that whistles at a certain highway speed. Not major, but not what I expected. Still, awesome truck, definitely recommend if you want a decent all around truck. Not for major hauling, or major creature comfort.
