I would recommend this car to anyone who drives long distances on a regular basis. The Yaris gets great gas mileage on the highway. With one tank of gas I can drive around 400 miles. However, in the city the gas mileage is not so great. I was only able to get a little over 300 miles before I had to refill. I have a manual transmission and it is very smooth when shifting. I find that first gear is difficult. Once you are up to about 10/mph you have to switch to 2nd gear which is frustrating when you are going over several speed bumps. And slow speeds, such as school zones, are difficult to stay at. But that could be my driving skills, I don't know but I didn't have that issue with my last stick shift. Overall, I love this car.

Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield.
There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!

I have owned two Toyota Yaris LEs and one Sedan. This car handles well and has more room on the inside than other smaller cars. I especially like the manual drive vs the automatic for navigating traffic and on ramps! Tires make a big difference in cabin noise reduction on the Yaris so make sure you don't buy cheap ones.
