The 2022 BMW 7 Series M760i xDrive is the last of the V12 BMWs
The BMW 7 Series is BMW’s flagship large luxury sedan, and the BMW M760i xDrive is the top trim level. It comes with a massive 12-cylinder engine and luxury features, like heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, power-adjustable rear seats, and extra sound insulation for a quieter interior. The M760i xDrive is the most driver-focused of the 7 Series trims, but it’s still not the most engaging large sedan to drive, and it chugs premium gasoline. But it is very quiet, comfortable, spacious, and loaded with technology features.
The 2022 BMW 7 Series is the final year for the V12 engine, with the car being fully redesigned for the 2023 model year. BMW marked the occasion by releasing a limited edition version of the 2022 M760i xDrive called the Final 12, with special badges and luxury trimmings. But only 12 of these Final 12 models were made, so most people will have to make do with the regular version.

What’s We Like
V12 power: One of the last 12-cylinder engines on the market, the M760i xDrive’s V12 is powerful. Even though fuel economy isn’t a strong suit—the EPA estimates 16 mpg combined—and it requires premium fuel, there’s really nothing quite like a big, V12-powered luxury sedan like this.
Luxury to spare: From the M760i xDrive’s adaptive suspension to its standard heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, everything about this sedan is designed to coddle the driver and passengers. Whether you define luxury as quiet, comfort, or room to stretch, the M760i xDrive has you covered.
Lots of technology: As BMW’s flagship sedan, the 7 Series is packed with technology, from a surround-view camera to a suite of advanced driver aids, and even an available remote-control parking feature. Just be aware that even on the top M760i xDrive, some tech features, like adaptive cruise control, were optional extras.
What Needs Improvement
Driving engagement: When BMW puts an ‘M’ on a car, savvy shoppers know to expect a driver-focused experience. But the 7 Series, even the M760i xDrive, just doesn’t live up to BMW’s legacy of making engaging cars. Rivals like the Porsche Panamera or Audi S8 do a better job of putting the driver first.
