2019 Buick Regal Sportback review

1. Powertrain performance 

The 2019 Regal Sportback offers a choice of two spirited engine options. Standard on the first five trims is a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine delivering a robust 250 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque with standard front-wheel drive. Available all-wheel drive for this engine setup adds even more torque, up to 295 lb-ft. For those craving explosive power and agility, the Regal Sportback GS trim boasts a mighty 310-hp, 3.6L V6 engine paired with standard all-wheel drive, ensuring a thrilling driving experience every time. 

2. Avenir trim 

The stylish Avenir trim made its debut for the Regal Sportback’s 2019 model year. Adding luxurious elements to the interior and exterior finishing, the Avenir is a gracious sedan with stunning curb appeal. An exclusive feature of this trim's interior is the quilt-stitched seating in Ebony or Whisper-Beige leather upholstery. On the outside, the Regal Sportback Avenir trim has a unique black mesh grille and aluminum wheels with a Pearl Nickel finish. 

3. Technology 

For the 2019 model year, the Regal Sportback offers more standard technology features for its base trim model. Bluetooth® hands-free calling and a seven-inch touchscreen carry over unchanged, while the newly standard Apple Carplay^® and Android Auto^™ integration is a welcome addition if you enjoy online podcasts and playlists. The available Sights and Sounds package further elevates your Regal Sportback with built-in navigation and a Bose^® eight-speaker premium audio system. 

4. Driver assistance features 

Further empowering your awareness on the road, the 2019 Regal Sportback offers a range of available driver aids. On the base trim, you get some useful standard features, like a rearview camera and automatic headlights. With the available Preferred I and II trims, however, you can identify models that have the Driver Confidence package add-on. This valuable addition includes LED headlights, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert, all of which will likely get everyday use. If you’re deciding between those two trims, it's worth noting that on the Preferred II trim, this package also bags you wireless device charging. 

5. Cargo space

The second row conveniently split folds to accommodate longer items, but you can fold it completely to fully reveal 60.7 cu-ft of cargo space behind the first row for transporting furniture and small white goods.
