The 2015 Nissan Rogue ticks a lot of boxes for buyers of compact crossovers: It's versatile (the Kia Sorento is the only rival to also offer family-friendly seating for seven), and its interior fit and finish and materials are among the very best. It looks good, and the S, SV, and SL trim choices offer decent standard equipment levels. The SV's equipment will satisfy most buyers, but the SL adds desirable luxuries including Bose® audio, a 7-inch touchscreen, a clever 360-degree camera, and heated front seats.
Nissan offers the Rogue with just one 170-hp four-cylinder engine, while many competitors also offer a more powerful V6 engine. That four-cylinder engine is fitted with a continuously variable automatic transmission, which is noisy when accelerating. The Rogue certainly has many appealing features, but others in the class may give you a more enjoyable drive or slightly better EPA-estimated fuel economy.

The base S model offers plenty of standard features, like Bluetooth® connectivity, a five-inch color display, a backup camera, and a second-row split-folding/sliding/reclining bench seat with pass-through. On the driver-assistance side, this SUV also includes active trace control, active engine braking, active ride control, and more, making this a great choice for small families. The 2015 Rogue can be found in two more trims—the SV and the SL—with additional Premium and Family packages to look for.
The 360-degree Around View® Monitor backup camera on the SL trim makes it easier to park in a tight spot or parallel space. This feature is key for urban living and working in the city—not only for parking easily, but also for avoiding pedestrians, curbs, and shopping carts. Look for this trim if you want the added peace of mind that comes from being able to see all around you.
The S and SV Family package includes a third-row split fold-flat bench seat, adding flexibility if your family carpools occasionally or has grandparents visiting from out of town. A part-time third row adds additional functionality for busy families, business owners, or single friends bringing the crew along on weekend adventures.
The SV premium package and the SL trim come standard with a power liftgate. Having the rear cargo area accessible at the touch of a button makes this already versatile SUV ideal for living in the city, commuting, and taking weekend adventures. If you're a DIY fan, hauling supplies is made easier with the hands-free liftgate—which is equally valuable for busy parents with car seats and strollers in tow.
Even in temperate climates where inclement conditions are few and far between, taking the 2015 Nissan Rogue up to the cabin or campsite may mean driving on unpaved roads. Fortunately, available all-wheel drive can offer more confident driving. And if you're in a northern climate, AWD becomes even more important.
