2025 Lexus LC 500 review

The Lexus LC 500 has been produced since 2018, but the name changed to simply “LC” for the 2024 and 2025 model years. It’s the same car, however, with its 5.0-liter V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. The LC 500 is a luxury grand-touring coupe or convertible with impressive performance and a futuristic design. What the LC 500 lacks in practicality, it more than makes up for with style and comfort. Notably, Lexus also produced a hybrid version of the same vehicle, called the LC 500h, which is reviewed separately.

First generation Lexus LC 500

The Lexus LC 500 is a personal luxury car, and the “LC” name stands for Luxury Coupe (or Luxury Convertible). The LC 500 is a well-composed grand-touring car, designed to be comfortable on longer drives but less nimble than a smaller car. The LC 500 technically provides seating for four people, but it’s really designed for two with a tiny rear seat and limited cargo space.

Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8 engine, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. The LC 500 offers acceleration in line with its engine, but it’s a larger, heavier car, so don’t expect sports car dynamics.

Inside, the LC 500 is tech-forward, with an available Mark Levinson audio system, navigation, and a camera-based rearview system from the beginning of production. Early years featured a touchpad-based control system that was harder to use, but later model years added an intuitive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and more features.
