The Rivian R1T brings the concept of the adventure vehicle to the electric market. It’s an electric pickup truck sized between the midsize Honda Ridgeline and the full-size Ford F-150. Rivian gives buyers the choice of powertrains featuring two, three, or four electric motors, with horsepower ranging from 533 hp to 1,025 hp. Three battery pack sizes unlock range estimates between 270 miles and 420 miles. A standard air suspension raises the ground clearance as high as 14.9 inches for off-roading, and a gear tunnel behind the cab provides creative room for storage.

First generation Rivian R1T

The Rivian R1T is an appealing electric pickup truck with functional range, plenty of power, and an adventurous attitude. It's mechanically similar to Rivian's R1S SUV.

The R1T arrived in 2022 with a four-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain making 835 horsepower and with an EPA-estimated range of 314 miles from its 128.9-kWh battery.

Since then, Rivian has introduced Dual and Tri powertrains, with dual and three motors, respectively, and reintroduced the Quad powertrain.

Rivian's battery technology has evolved, and it now offers a 92.5-kWh Standard battery, a 109.4-kWh Large battery, and a 141.5-kWh Max battery. The Dual model is offered with the Standard or Large battery, while the Tri and Quad get the Max battery. Range estimates stretch from 270 miles to 420 miles, and 0-60 mph times range from 2.5 seconds to 4.5 seconds.

The adventure features of the R1T include a standard air suspension that can vary the ground clearance between 9.1 inches and 14.9 inches, a 4.5-foot bed, and a gear tunnel behind the cab with 11.7 cubic feet of storage space.
