This is a fun roadster (two place, rear wheel drive, convertible) in the tradition of the classic English sports car. My first car was a 1953 MG-TD so it feels really good to be back in a roadster, but after 50 years of automotive development this 2003 BMW Z4 is vastly improved over the MG. The five speed gear box is really smooth, steering and handling is precise, the 2.5 liter inline six is flawless with enough power to propel the car as fast as you care to go. So if you like the sensation of wind in your hair and feeling the sunshine on your face and being as one with the car the Z4 could be for you.
Sexy power. My "James Bond" mid life crisis.

Excellent construction. Gorgeous looks. Fast! Love the sports package ( entirely 3 different suspension / transmission) configurations. 2800 mile road trip averaged 30.1 mpg.

I've been very pleased with my Z4 since I got it.
The handling is amazing and acceleration is quick. The automatic transmission shifts very smoothly. The convertible top goes down and up in about 15 seconds. The look of the car is definitely an attention grabber, looks best with the top down. The car looks small, but despite that I fit nicely and so do some of my larger friends. I'm 5'-9", 200 lbs.
On rough roads the ride is hard. I have the run flat tires which accounts for some of the hardness but not all. The suspension is just too stiff. The top is cloth, not vinyl, so there is a little more care that needs to be taken but it gives it a more classy look.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice luxury roadster for a fair amount.
The Nissan 350Z does perform slightly better but it lacks European style.
The Audi TT has a smooth ride but the car is too sluggish and ugly.
The Honda S2000 got discontinued for a reason.
I hope this helped. =)
