2015 Chrysler 200 Overview

Intended to be a midsize sedan that competes with others cars in that segment, such as the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Nissan Altima, and Volkswagen Passat, the 2015 Chrysler 200 is available in four trim levels: LX, S, C, and Limited. Offered in two engines sizes - a 2.4L four-cylinder and a 3.6L V6 - the Chrysler 200 has a nine-speed automatic transmission. With its V6 engine pushing out 295 horsepower, it gives the vehicle the best power in its segment. It is also the first vehicle in its class to be manufactured with a dial-based gear shift. This second-generation Chrysler 200 was also offered only as a sedan without a convertible option as the earlier generation had been.

2015 Chrysler 200 History

The 2015 Chrysler 200 nameplate made its debut at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. Though it replaces the Chrysler Sebring and is built on that vehicle's platform, the Chrysler 200 is designed based on the Chrysler 300.

  • The Chrysler 200 was in production from 2010 until 2016.
  • There were two generations of this vehicle.
  • Both generations of the Chrysler 200 earned five starts from NHTSA (five stars) and a good" designation from the IIHS.

How It Drives

The 2015 Chrysler 200 offers progressive responses that handle predictably well. Because it comes well-equipped in nearly all of its trim levels, drivers of the 2015 Chrysler 200 can expect to find premium features on the base model that might not be available on other vehicles in its class. The nine-speed transmission and available all-wheel drive provide the perky pickup that infuses excitement in the midsize sedan lineup.

Used 2015 Chrysler 200 Value

Because of the redesign of its interior, its safety ratings and powerful V6 engine, a used 2015 Chrysler 200 is a good value for someone who wants luxury but who can't quite afford to get this year's model. Its acceptable fuel economy, nimble handling, comfortable interior, and sleek exterior make the 2015 Chrysler 200 a lot of car for the money.

Design & Performance

The LX is the base model of the 2015 Chrysler 200 and comes standard with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that delivers 184 horsepower. On the S and C trim levels, a 3.6L V6 engine is optional. The sportier S model includes paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. In the 2015 Chrysler 200, front-wheel drive is standard with an optional front-wheel drive feature available in the V6 models.

  • Outfitted with the V6 engine, the 2015 Chrysler 200 powered to 60 MPH in only 6.2 seconds.
  • The four-cylinder engine took nine seconds to reach 60 MPH from a standstill.
  • The EPA estimates that the 2015 Chrysler 200 delivers 23 mpg during city driving and 36 mpg on the highway for the base model.

Powertrain & Engine

The 2015 Chrysler 200 offers two engines sizes to meet the needs of drivers. For fuel efficiency, the best bet is to choose the 2.4L inline four-cylinder engine. It delivers 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The EPA estimates that this vehicle delivers 23 mpg in the city and 36 mpg along the highway. Drivers who want their family sedan to provide them with more power would do well to choose the V6 model of the Chrysler 200. It offers a 3.6-liter engine that pushes out 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The EPA estimates that its fuel economy is a bit lower than its four-cylinder version. For the front-wheel drive option, drivers can expect to get about 19 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. If the all-wheel option is chosen, the fuel economy drops slightly to 18 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The 2015 Chrysler 200's interior was completely redesigned with an eye on sophisticated comfort. While the front seats are roomy enough to accommodate passengers, the rear seats might feel a bit cramped for taller people. The rear seats fold down in a 60/40 split with a trunk pass-through for more storage space. Luxurious details that set the 2015 Chrysler 200 apart from other sedans in its class include:

  • Real exposed wood along the dash
  • Optional leather-trimmed seats
  • Sliding cup-holders
  • A center console with pass-through storage
