FAQ

Q: Does the 2016 Ford F250 have an aluminum body?

A: To reduce weight without losing strength and improve fuel efficiency, the 2016 Ford F250 features a body comprised of industrial-strength, military-grade aluminum. Tested in the 2015 Ford F150, the successful outcome has the Detroit manufacturer adding more aluminum to its heavy-duty trucks. This change allows more of the towing and hauling capacity to be in cargo and trailers, rather than the weight of the vehicle itself.

Q: What does the FX4 OFF-ROAD Package include in the 2016 Ford F250?

A: The 2016 Ford F250 includes a range of available packages, including the FX4 OFF-Road Package. This package focused on delivering superior performance in off-road conditions and includes, when sold new, skid plates to protect the transfer case and fuel tank, Hill Descent Control system, Rancho® shocks and factory-installed FX4 OFF-ROAD box decals. Enjoy getting off the beaten path again with this tough truck.

Q: How much can the 2016 Ford F250 haul?

A: When properly equipped, the 2016 Ford F250 can handle a payload of up to 4,040 pounds in a regular cab, two-wheel drive configuration, and can manage towing weights of up to 10,000 pounds in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive powertrains, when equipped with the 10,000-lb. GVWR package.3

Q: What cab options are available in the 2016 Ford F250?

A: The 2016 Ford F250 is available in a range of different cab options, depending on the trim level you select. Lower trim levels include regular cab, SuperCab and crew cab configurations with two, three, five or six seats. By comparison, upper trim levels, such as the King Ranch and Platinum editions, are only available in a crew cab, providing plenty of room to stretch out for your entire crew.

3 Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.

Generation Overview

Upgraded to better compete with the newer Dodge Ram HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD models, the third-generation Ford F250 was updated to include a larger exterior and bigger front fascia as well as a number of technological and interior changes. Launched in the 2011 model year, it included an optional locking differential to provide superior traction under slippery conditions, vacuum-boost brakes and the new 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Diesel. A post-release boost brought the engine to 400 hp and 800 lb-ft of torque, and the 2015 model year saw the engine increased again to 440 hp and 860 lb-ft of torque. In the diesel engine version, two separate pumps move the coolant through the system, with a high-temperature coolant system handling the engine and the low-temperature coolant system managing transmission fluid and fuel cooling, EGR and air-to-water inter-cooler systems.
