Fun around town car, great gas mileage - we got 38 mpg on a trip from LA to Morro Bay in February, and 34 mpg on a trip to Palo Alto in April. That's more than twice what my beloved Pacifica gets! Be forewarned, Focus has a history of clutch failure in low gear, which I was aware of before I purchase this car. When it got bad enough to be of concern, I took it to the Ford dealer and it was replaced under warranty. It runs great now!
So most people can't tell this car from a PT Cruiser. But most people can't tell a new Corvette from a Ferrari. Most people are pretty dim when it comes to cars, as evident in many of the reviews you'll read on here. I'm coming off of a 2006 Audi S4 who's engine was a ticking time bomb. Great fun, very fast car, but ten year old German performance cars are not known for their reliability. But I digress. It's saying something for the Focus ST that I am having just as much fun, if not more, than I was in the S4. This thing is like a go kart on a canyon road, while being practical for a family man. This car is universally loved by the automotive press.
Cons: bluetooth breaks often, gears get stuck, small interior space. I had to replace my transmission 2 months after purchasing the car brand new with 33 miles on it from Ford Country Gibson in Las Vegas. After it was "replaced" I continued having problems and had to get a rental car several times there after. Rain causes dings in the metal easily. Car shakes hard when stopped. Cheap interior. Small cargo space. And yes the moisture holds on to the windshield so it is hard to see when it is raining. I will say that the sound system is absolutely incredible and that handling is very smooth and easy.
