3.8 R-Spec

I purchased the 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (3.8 R-Spec) and I love it more and more every day. I've had just an everyday ordinary man's regular car for 14 years and I knew I wanted something different and fun. This car is equipped with track tuned tires, wheels, brakes, suspension, interior, exhaust, and drivetrain. I still can't really get my girlfriend to ride in it comfortably because it isn't great for doing makeup and drinking coffee while rushing to work. But it is absolutely a "driver's" car. If you want to feel the feedback you get in a Porsche on the track but on a budget, this is the car for you. The steering and suspension is so tight you feel the car's movement as if it were an extension of your own body. The Brembo brakes are large and grippy which gives the added feel of confidence and safety. The brakes play a large roll with brake assist, traction control, and ABS which calm the nerves on wet roads, curvy roads in the hill country, as well as tight traffic situations on inner city highways. Inside the pilot and co-pilot's chairs wrap around you with large sporty bolsters and center seat cloth material all hold you in place perfectly while navigating around town or on the track. The sound system is nice and you don't really need more out of it unless you don't care to hear the engine and exhaust. If you are a music driven person AM/FM, CD, SiriusXM radio, and USB/AUX/IPOD interface give plenty of options and variety. The bluetooth connectivity is simple, I use it all the time. There are phone, radio, and volume controls on the left hand side of the leather wrapped steering wheel that keep your hands on the wheel when it counts. All in all I absolutely love the car. Hands down, the best car I've ever owned. Mine in particular is black on black with tinted windows, gunmetal finished 19" wheels, with a black and red interior. It's definitely an eye catcher and people all the time just can't believe it is a Hyundai. I always get "I thought that was a BMW or Lexus" or "It has great lines but not so curvy it's a chick car." Bottom line, I spent 5 years test driving Porsche Cars as a part of my duties for a dealership service department and this is the closest I could have ever imagined to a rear wheel driven, 6-speed manual transmission coupe for under $30K that if I didn't know any better, was built by the same people. Good job to the Koreans. In 2 months of ownership and 3500 miles I average about 22-25 mpg which is a bit higher than the EPA estimates but the number is getting larger the more time I spend on the highway. Some may frown on that but hey, not bad for a 3.8 litre V6 naturally aspirated engine. I drove the 4 cylinder turbo charged model and all I can say is its a few more miles to the gallon with about half the fun. I plan on owning this car for at least the next 10 years. Not terribly practical and when I have to shuttle around kids, groceries, etc., will probably find an economical hybrid sedan or SUV but will always prefer the fun ride of the GENESIS over anything else.

Wonderful Car...I highly recommend it

This is the second Genesis I've owned. Both have been exceptional cars. My 2012 Genesis was RWD and that wasn't very practical for the winters in Spokane, WA. I loved that car because it was fun to drive and very comfortable and dependable. I like a car with good performance and the 2012 was a rocket even with having the smaller V-6 engine. The 2015 Genesis we purchased in September of 2016 is AWD. I have to say AWD makes the winter driving around here pretty easy even with it's high-performance all-season tires (they're really just 3 season tires) that it came with. We love this's got tons of great features and is very quiet.
