The Kia Niro line is a great hybrid electric vehicle. The interior is roomy, there are a number of options, and the car is very reliable. On top of that, the plugin version gives you the freedom of performing your daily errands on just electric. Since owning the vehicle for approximately 5 months now, I've only put gas in it once. And the amount of electric I've spent is still less than a typical tank of gas. This car is extremely comfortable to drive. The safety and convenience features are too numerous to mention.Pros
- Fuel Economy: When using electric only, the mileage is 999 mpg, the highest the display will show. When in hybrid mode, I'm averaging about 52 mpg.
- Interior Space: I'm 6'2" and have plenty of room. I looked at other hybrids, and this was the roomiest and still comfortable for passengers.
- Technology and Entertainment: This specific model has an unbelievable amount of options.
Cons
- Power: Not a con for me, but may be for others. It's not a Tesla. Do not expect to be thrown back into your seat.

We love our Niro! We are able to use the electric battery for virtually all day-to-day driving, but are also able to take the car on road trips without having to worry about finding EV chargers along the way. The car drives very smoothly in EV mode and it super fun to drive around town. The infotainment screen is great for displaying maps, and we've enjoyed the sound of the stereo system.Pros
- Fuel Economy: I'm able to accomplish nearly all of my day to day driving on the electric battery, and when I do drive long distances I get amazing gas mileage.
- Interior Space: Plenty of room in the backseat for adult passengers
- Value
Cons
- Power: The engine is a bit loud and clunky when trying to drive up steep hills / mountain passes. You'll make it just fine but it's not the smoothest experience.
- Cargo Space: The cargo area is a bit smaller than we had in our last car, which was a similarly sized hatchback.

Good quality, reliability and value for money, especially compared to most other PHEVs on the market. Nice compact SUV design. Very good Hybrid mileage and good all-electric range at about 25 miles/charge. However, note that this is not anything close to a sports car. No Tesla-like acceleration, etc.Pros
- Fuel Economy: very good hybrid fuel economy at ~46 mi/gal. And 25 mile all-electric range.
- Styling: nice compact SUV design.
- Value: excellent price, quality, reliability, etc. for a PHEV.
Cons
- Power: engine and electric motors are both a bit on the low power side. Fairly slow acceleration, but this is what you expect for a highly fuel efficient PHEV, so not a real surprise.
