If you've ever seen the Nissan commercial where the new dad has to trade in his 370Z sports coupe for a family hauler, but still wants to have fun (spoiler: he gets a Maxima), that commercial really rings true with this car. I, myself, am a recent father (one year now) but I still want to have fun in my suburban street pounder. The Maxima is a great fit for that.
With nearly 300 horsepower under the hood coming from Nissan's highly acclaimed and aggressive sounding VQ35 3.5 liter V6 engine, the car's got more than enough going for it to keep the blood flowing at stoplights. Couple that with a suspension that feels agile and athletic, even in the standard version, and you can't wait for the next family errand in it.

I purchased this car in college to get around town. Bought it with 60k miles on it and got it for a steal...I now know why. This cars tranny is very very poor. I am not kidding, a golf cart will give you a smoother ride. If it doesn't completely fail on you, it will throw you around like you're on a horse. It jumps, misses gears consistently and turbo lag is a real thing on this tin can. I am currently getting 15mpg in the city and cannot wait to upgrade. If you are looking for a used car under 15grand please consider something like an Acura TSX, Honda Accord or anything Toyota.
I've always been a Nissan man so I bought an 02 maxima with six speed to teach my son how to drive and how to drive a stick. He drove that 02 for a year and a half. He went to college and I drove it for a while back & forth to work. I decided to trade it in for a newer model(2011) and got one fully loaded with only 50k/miles on it. I bought this car in Nov. 2015 and this car is really loaded. I enjoyed driving this car with not only the speed and handling but all the options and features. I have this car to my son to take back to school two weeks ago and I really miss driving that car. My son called to say "thanks for such a nice car dad." He loves it as much as I did. It's a Black-on-Black 2011 Nissan Maxima fully loaded with every option
