2 Month review

Dave - Athens, GA 11/20/2006

I've had my Xterra for almost 2 months now and have been very pleased with it. I purchased it with the intention of being a mid-sized utility for use as an everyday vehicle. As far as utility, getting the new refrigerator home was a breeze with the fold down seats. Hauling the boat to the lake puts suprisingly very little strain on the engine (260hp). As far as an everyday vehicle, I'm 6' 3" tall so my seat is usually back. The passengers behind me, of average height, do not have the knee in the seat problem that they did with my old car and they say it is somewhat spacious in the back. Fuel economy is about 19 around town from the few tanks I've filled. On a recent trip, I got 20-21 on the interstate averaging 75-80 mph. Overall, pleased with the vehicle.

Deserves Its Great Reputation

Joseph - Greensboro, NC 12/07/2012

If you're looking at an Xterra, chances are you already know that they get incredibly high reviews across the board. Consumer Reports has given glowing endorsements of Xterras from 20082011, as well as the older generation (20012004). From what we've experienced, this vehicle lives up to those positive reviews, and then some! It's a perfect blend of rugged off road ability, and interior creature comforts. We bought the high end trim, called "SE". That means, in addition to the standard things shared by the "X" and "S" trim lines, it adds on a majorly upgraded sound system by Rockford Fosgate, including all new speakers, better amp, a 6CD in-dash changer, two additional speakers in the front dash, and an added subwoofer under the driver's seat. The "SE" trim also adds bluetooth connectivity for your telephone (but not iPod), voice command recognition (voice memos, controlling the phone), on-steering-wheel audio controls, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and outside temperature, the trip odometer gets upgrades, so you can see your average MPG, distance to empty, trip time, etc. The "SE" gets larger aluminum wheels (17" instead of 16"), side step rails, fog lights, an auxilliary input jack for plugging in an iPod/iPad for music, a large removable cargo net in the back (along with the easy-clean rear compartment), and an exterior side strip of rubber to prevent door dings. It's also got window rain guards, which don't come on the low end "X" trim. It's a truck, to be sure, which means the ride is rougher than a Lexus, but compared to other trucks I've owned, this is by far the most comfortable. It's a BLAST to drive, and evidently they last forever.

Nissan Xterra Off-Road

Outdoor Enthusiast - Wherever i happen to be 02/09/2007

The Nissan Xterra Off-Road is a fantastic vehicle that meets all of my needs and a few more. The combination of power and versitility make the Xterra perfect for any serious outdoor enthusiast. I can throw all of my gear in my Xterra and not worry about messing up the uplolstery or if it will all fit inside. The Xterra has loads of room but is not bulky or obtrusive on the outside or inside. It has reasonable gas mileage - around 21-23 mpg on the highway. I feel great driving the Xterra because it is incredibly comfortable and dependable.
