Very fast and agile....Stops on a dime and pulls my 22' boat with ease.....Turns on a dime and easy to park in small places....I recently took it camping and slept in the back like a tent.....good ground clearance for these bumpy flood prone Houston streets!

Off road is where it is most at home. I took mine to Moab, UT and went over trails like Poison Spider Mesa, I had more looks form people that took custom built off roaders and many wondering how I got this up there without breaking it. it has very long suspension travel for a SUV I was amazed by the amount of travel. to my surprise I had the A/C on the whole time I did not even notice and the engine temp never rose above normal

Transmission: Automatic Color:Silver Interior Color: Gray Average Vehicle Review: (4 reviews) This is a great all around 4WD vehicle. I have had trucks and jeeps (TJ's) and this is the best of both worlds. You have your 4wd and towing capabilities without having to have an overly large truck. It fits the kids in the back perfectly and has the ability to add cargo space when needed by folding down the rear seats. It gets what you would expect for gas mileage. Does it have all of the bells and whistles? Nope but it has everything that I need. My only modification is replacing the factory stereo and speakers with a DVD/Nav unit.

Nothing to complain, great on gas, very low on service, very reliable. I had BMW X5 before, NEVER EVER GO BACK, much less worries about going to the shop every other week. Japanese car manufactures are the BEST!

Transmission: Automatic Color:Black Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.571 reviews) Overall stable. Gas mileage not so good but overall an off road minded vehicle. A little light weight so real snow causes problems. Stable Japanese product, I would give it 3.5 stars but not able. In grade terms somewhere between C-C+. No auxiliary jack in the S model I have but CD/stereo. Not bad transport for regular sized folks, toddler/child seat causes problems with space, a little cramped.

Transmission: Automatic Color:Black Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (5 reviews) This vehicle is just plain useful. From bringing home lumber on the roof rack to the storage under the cargo floor for tools and road side emergency supplies. I have a place for everything so there's nothing rolling around. I love the first aid kit cavity in the hatch. Two glove boxes, an oversized sunglass cubby and this nifty space in front of the shifter that holds a book on CD as if it was meant to. Need more space, just fold down the rear seats. It drives very well considering this is a truck underneath. For one tank of regular fuel I drove like your grandma and got 22 mpg combined city streets and freeway. The 261hp 4.0 liter engine gets up and moves when you need it too. It does everything I need or expect it to do.

The gas milage is the only complaint I have with this vehicle at 250 miles per full tank on highway. I got 300 with a chevy blazer with a V8 on the same amount. Increase feul economy and it is the perfect SUV!!!

2012 Xterra Pro4x

I purchased my Xterra brand new and so far I have not really been disappointed. After doing some in depth research I have come to the same conclusion as everyone else, if you want to go off road buy a Jeep. I was previously a Jeep driver and I loved its off road capability but I hated its cargo space. I decided to sell my old jeep and get an xterra. The xterra rides a lot better than the jeep ever did. I took it on a 12 hour ski trip with 3 other guys tons of gear and beer and although it was a little tight it was never uncomfortable. I was shocked at how much stuff we were able to put it in and when we got into the mounts I was impressed with its handling in snow/ice. The interior is fairly plain and the tie downs in the back are pretty awesome. There are only three downsides so far. It gets terrible gas mileage, I am getting around 14-15mpg city 17/18 highway with a 5spd. The roof rack is pretty high up, I am 62 and have yet to easily get my mtn bike secured without falling over. The last downside is driving it off-road. Despite the fact that I splurged for the off-road model, it just doesnt perform how I want it to. I find myself unable to just let the clutch out in 1st gear and have the xterra crawl over rocky sections of trail the way my jeep used to. It always wanted to stall so I would have to give it too much gas for the situation or I would have to play with the clutch. I also noticed that when going down rocky sections there isnt enough engine braking to go sufficiently slow. If I could change those last two downsides it would be the perfect vehicle.

I love my Xterra! It has great get up and go, it's fun to drive (it's a 6 speed manual), and just an all around good car. Haven't had any issues with it. It's also a bit taller than other trucks, so visibility on the road is good, and we can always find it in a crowded parking lot! And every time I look at it, I just think, "It's so pretty!"
