About the Ram 1500 Rebel
The Ram 1500 Rebel is a special edition of the standard Ram 1500 pickup truck, first introduced in 2016, that gives you all the comfort of street driving with the go-anywhere ability of a great off-roader. Ever thought it wasn't possible to combine the two? Or that the Ram was just a pretty street truck that couldn't cut it off-road? Think again.
The Rebel can help you tackle both roads and rugged terrain with ease, all while giving you a satisfying and endlessly comfortable driving experience no matter the road surface. Are you an adventurer looking for the ultimate road-trip companion? Maybe you work outdoors and need a pickup that can handle various surfaces and weather conditions all in style and comfort? The Rebel ticks all of the above boxes and more.
It should be noted that prior to 2009, the Ram truck was named the Dodge Ram. The 2010 Ram truck line became a standalone brand, and the Rebel was first introduced as the special edition for the 2016 Ram 1500, which is part of the Ram 1500's fourth generation (2009–2018). It quickly proved that it offered more than just stylish exterior options. All-terrain tires, Bilstein shock absorbers, and tow hooks—all which come standard on 2016–2018 models—mean the Rebel can tackle most things you throw at it. Meanwhile, heated seats and steering wheel (also standard on 2016–2018 models) make sure you're cozy, regardless of what the Rebel is tackling on the road.
The Rebel remained at the top of the trim package list through 2018, and then a new Rebel came along as part of the new fifth generation of Ram trucks launched in 2019. Along with a radical and striking redesign of the entire RAam 1500 model, the Rebel enjoyed some changes too—now available with multiple engine options , as well as even more off-roading ability, all while refusing to sacrifice the comfort and driving experience the Ram 1500 is known for.

Ram 1500 Rebel Trim Configurations
2016 Ram 1500 Rebel Trim Configuration
The first year of the Ram 1500 Rebel trim package came only as a crew cab model with a five-foot seven-inch box and 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. Most of the trim options are taken from the Sport R/T trim package, which includes Uconnect Access smartphone-integration options, projector LED headlights, taillights and interior lighting, power-adjustable pedals, and a rearview camera. Additionally, the Rebel adds black fender flares, 17-inch wheels equipped with all-terrain tires, special Bilstein shock absorbers for off-road driving, extra LED fog lights, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, and combination cloth-vinyl upholstery. Like most of the other RAM-trim configurations, optional-feature packages like the Luxury Group and Protection Group are also available on the Rebel.
2017 Ram 1500 Rebel Trim Configuration
The Rebel is largely unchanged for the 2017 model year, including keeping the standard configuration of crew cab and 5.7L HEMI V8. It adds some extra features in the form of keyless ignition as well as start and rear parking sensors.
2018 Ram 1500 Rebel Trim Configuration
The Rebel-trim configuration returns unchanged for 2018.
2019 Ram 1500 Rebel Trim Configuration
With a new generation and a redesigned Ram 1500 comes some new features on the Rebel trim. For the 2019 model year the Rebel now comes with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 as standard, with the option to add the 5.7L HEMI V8 (which was standard on previous Rebel trims) should you wish.
As for features, the 2019 Rebel includes front tow hooks, skid plates, stronger reinforced suspension parts including strengthened shock absorbers, an electronic-locking rear axle and hill-descent control for navigating steep inclines, and special off-road tires like the previous generation of Rebel trucks. It also takes plenty of features from the Big-Horn-trim configuration as standard—LED headlights and fog lights, satellite radio, a Class 4 Hitch Receiver, front bucket seats with a power-adjustable driver seat, and a 115-volt power outlet.
Q: How much horsepower does the Ram 1500 Rebel have?
A: Plenty! One look at the 2018 Ram 1500 Rebel tells the story; the Rebel trim comes with the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine as standard, which packs 395 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, the 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel comes standard with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 (the V8 is optional), and even that packs a punch with 305 hp and 269 lb.-ft. of torque.
Q: Do all Ram Rebels have air suspension?
A: Yes. From the introduction of the Rebel-trim package in 2016 to the 2018 model, air suspension is offered as standard on the Ram Rebel. It is worth noting, however, that for the newest generation of the Ram Rebel (2019 model year), air suspension is optional.
Q: Do all Ram Rebels have the luxury package?
A: Not as standard, but the Luxury Group package is available as an option on the 2016–2018 model Ram Rebel trucks.
