This vehicle is great for everything that you need to do. We have two kids and two large dogs, everyone fits in just fine and with the roof rack, there is plenty of room for our bags on long trips. I have the tow package on mine 2.5L and can tow my small boat (max is around 2klbs) and it tows it just fine. We live in Florida so the car is under some extreme heat for most of it's life and handles it just fine, esp. with the aircon running 24/7. The handling of the vehicle is magnificent, it can really take corners and it will give you a lot of confidence if you have to swerve quickly to avoid a crash. Overall the car is amazing, the only issue is these boxer engines are known for eating oil. We have to add 1 qt around every 2500 miles
Incredible amount of room, especially in the back seats. Highway MPG. 2.5 engine has plenty of power, even for passing and cruising on mountain climbs (I travel over the Blue Ridge Mountains constantly). Smooth ride, even on 14-hour trips. Climate controls easy to use and system is effective in maintaining comfort. Hardon sound system has great acoustics. Seats very comfortable, but might be a bit short for long-thighed drivers. Leather seats much more comfortable than the cloth ones. No body rattling. Overall, a pleasure to drive, and it gets lots of compliments from friends.
For living in the west, specifically Colorado, Subaru Outbacks are THE car to own. Yes, I understand that station wagons are not "hip" or cool, but this car is not about being hip or cool, but rather being able to get where you want to go up in the hills safely and with little trouble. And speaking of little trouble, any Subaru, with its all-wheel-drive, will allow you to get around town or the state in snowy weather, with little or no trouble. The Outback is safe and one of the most reliable vehicles out there!
