Great car!!

This is my first "non mom car". Last car was is a Toyota van. 235k mikes that's why I got another Toyota. Didn't want a camera because everybody has one (wanted to he different). I love it. Never had leather interior, wasn't crazy about it but it's the only way the Avalon comes. Plus it's black leather. Not as hot in the summer as I thought it would be. Very smooth ride on the interstates and smoother roads. The only issue is the "low profile" tires that come on it are stiff and a little rough riding.

Avalon's Nav System is Inferior

Our 2008 Avalon is an excellent cae and we have been satisfied in every respect except one very notable exception: the navigation system. The user interface of the Avalon is annoying and very hard to use. It takes a good amount of studying to learn how to use it at all. The first indication of this is when you notice that it uses a "joystick" in leiu of a touch screen. The feature comes at an outrageous price and has a design that seems far less advanced than any $200 navigation system one can buy at Radio Shack. My 2008 map CD is out of date and the new updated CD costs $265. The fact that it even uses a CD is disapointing. Most of the modern GPS devices use a small plug-in memory chip that can be updated on-line for about $45. The Toyota system also chooses to play nanny by prohibiting anyone from changing the destination unless the car is at a complete stop.
