Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Tan Average Vehicle Review: (0 reviews) This car is the nicest car I've ever owned, so that may skew my review. It handles so smoothly and gets excellent gas mileage, which is the reason we went with this car. We wanted a larger SUV that would suit our active lifestyles, as well as accompany our 2 dogs. However, we were deterred by many SUVs due to the horrible gas mileage. Honestly, its been 100 years since cars became a household commodity - one would think more advancements had been made in that time. Anyways, the Highlander Hybrid was the only one that had the interior size and gas mileage we wanted at an affordable price point in our budget. All the little luxury features on this non-luxury car make it a joy to drive and to ride in.

Because of its hybrid battery you have more horesepower in the car and the battery breaks for you, saving you money on the break pads. We drove it cross country in the winter and it handled so well. We also have a trailer on it for various things we tow and it doesn't skip a beat. I have had no issues with this car. Thanks to Toyota's quality I will never switch to another car.

Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Gray Average Vehicle Review: (5 reviews) I traded in a 2007 Ford Expedition for the Highlander Hybrid. I went from getting 14mpg in the city to 34mpg. With gas prices going higher the mileage difference saves me approx $120 per month in gas. The vehicle has much more giddy-up than my Ford did. The digital display for the GPS and all features of the vehicle is difficult naviagate at times, but probably because I don't play with it enough. I researched the 2006 model and noticed there was an important recall for that model year. Prior to purchasing the vehicle I checked with dealer to see if the car had been serviced for the recall part (a $1,900 part) and it had not. Within 3 days of purchasing vehicle I had it at Toyota dealer and they sevrice the recall and the vehicle drives even better afterwards. Germans and Japanese make the best quality cars. Stay away from American made cars as the quality is not very good.

It has surprising passing and merge power. Seats are very comfortable and the ride is very firm and stable. It had only 21,000 miles when purchased; I could not be more pleased.

Reviews for Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Overall Rating

4.5 out of 5(49 reviews)

Best Vehicle I've owned

I bought this 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid new and I have not one bad thing to say about it. I love the power, the towing rating of 3500 lbs, the performance, the acceleration, the reliability...I could go on. Best Vehicle I've owned so far.

Excellent gas mileage, great size, decently priced

This car is the nicest car I've ever owned, so that may skew my review. It handles so smoothly and gets excellent gas mileage, which is the reason we went with this car. 2007 Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD

Weve driven this mid-size SUV for about 6 weeks on both long trips and around town. It is very quiet, gets pretty good gas mileage, and accelerates quickly and smoothly. It handled pulling a light duty trailer with no effort; the rear wheel electric motor really helps with this. It also handled very well on winding mountain roads in heavy rain. The EPA estimate for this 2007 model revised to the new standards is 27 City/25 Highway (originally 31/27), which is about right. Using the A/C causes a 2 to 3 MPG decrease as does driving in excess of 70 mph. Short, less than 5 minute trips also reduced the mpg we experienced. The only real negatives are the Navigation System and the limited number & size of storage bins. Apparently all newer Toyota Navigation Systems can only be changed when you are stopped; this makes using it on the Interstate frustrating and essentially useless. We have a Garmin Nuvi Navigation system in our other vehicle and it is much more intuitive to use. As for the other very minor negative, the Hybrid Batteries and the 3rd row seats take up the space that could be used for storage, making it a challenge to hide tools, umbrellas etc. All-in-all, though, it seems like a very comfortable, practical and safe vehicle.
