Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield.
There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!

Can't beat the gas mileage I'm getting with the manual hatchback -- about 36 mpg city, 41 highway. The interior is very roomy - even for my three 6-foot sons. The rear seats can move forward and back and the rear seat backs also recline. It's comfy and funny to watch people gape when our adult family of 5 piles out of this car (like a college prank or something). I can fit a lot of stuff into the back of this baby with all the rear storage options that come standard. The acceleration isn't all that great, but with gas prices the way they are, who's speeding around anymore anyway? I have power windows, locks, and the all-weather guard (live outside Chicago and need it). It has more than 9000 miles on it - I have had no problems at all. We had a very snowy and cold winter here...the only time this car slid was on an ice-packed road (and everyone was sliding). It has sharp handling - rain or snow. And I can park anywhere -- maybe even on a bike rack! haha. Get this car. With manual and power options. You can't go wrong.
Great price, great car!

The thing that sold me on this car before I got it was the gas mileage: 30 MPG in the city! I live in the greater metro Atlanta area, so I drive a lot more than I'd like. Keeping my fuel costs low was crucial in the vehicle I buy. This car more than fits the bill, the average MPG meter in the car's dash consistently tells me I'm above 30 MPG. My Android Fuelio app (to keep track of fuel consumption), has my average fuel consumption at above 31 MPG. For the biggest reason I bought this car, it really is living up to its sticker!
