We love the passenger space and easy access to the third row and the car is comfortable for our family of five on long drives. However, the lack of trunk space makes it impossible to put anything there except for a stroller, so groceries and luggage end up on a seat, which is harder to access in parking lots. We had a major A/C issue when the car had fewer than 1,000 miles, and I never want another VW again after having to take it to the horrible local dealer again and again. Carmax basically said the A/C was VW’s problem even though we bought it with so few miles. The stop/start feature is annoying, and even with it engaged, the gas mileage is terrible. So, basically, the comfort is great, but it’s a hassle to own.

I have thought about getting an Atlas for years and when I saw this wonderful deal at CarMax I had to take advantage of it. I wish I would have thought harder about that. I wanted to upgrade my previous vehicle for 3rd row and back air. While the Atlas does have that my 7 year old can barely fit in the back because of the lack of leg room and I cannot control the air from the front so I have to crawl in the back if I want to change it The doors have a touch to unlock but it will only unlock the door you are standing at and if you place the key inside the car to walk around and open another door it will lock! I have a newborn and have to walk all the way to the front door to unlock all the doors, leave that door open and walk around to back to put him in. Also this car would seem like it has remote start, but it does not. It instead has a trunk button on the key that does absolutely nothing! Both key batteries were dead upon getting them and the tire had to be replaced within the week. The local CarMax made us wait over 2 hours just to have someone help and he clearly had no clue what he was doing. I work at a CU so I has to walk him through getting me a buyers order etc. I should have backed out then but really wanted a new car. Now I am stuck!

Fuel Economy: This is a major gas guzzler! I drive 30 minutes to work and 30 minutes home each day and fill up at least 2 times a week!
Interior Space: Not enough room in 3rd row as some midsize like the Traverse
Technology and Entertainment: The technology is very subpar

I wouldn’t recommend it, it rides rough and there’s a noise the service department can’t locate. I’m highly unsatisfied. And the service department treats you like your in a line begging for money as if we didn’t just purchase a vehicle over $1 value. they need to understand that this is something we will have for years and to have it for a few months with multiple problems is frustrating to us. I’ve had numerous issues with this vehicle and the service department is no help. I would not recommend getting a used Atlas from Carmax.
