Proof that practicality can be cool
Can the stylish luxury of a sedan translate to a hatchback? The short answer is yes; the 2021 Audi A5 Sportback proves this. It takes all the elegance, grace, and substance of the sedan or convertible versions of the A5 and adds more cargo space and a small amount of additional practicality, without skimping on cool points.

5 reasons to buy the 2021 Audi A5 Sportback
1. A second option for 2021
For 2021, Audi offered a second version of the A5 Sportback, so make sure you know what you’re signing up for if you come across a model from this year. The additional version has fewer horsepower but otherwise, it's the same vehicle. While the standard engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder producing 261 hp, the extra version is the same type but produces 201 hp, which is still plenty of power for this type of car.
2. Three trim levels
The 2021 Audi A5 Sportback comes in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The Premium Sportback includes leather upholstery, heated seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a power trunk lid as standard, which is pretty luxurious in itself. If you want more, however, Premium Plus adds a surround-view parking camera system and a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the Prestige pushes the envelope even further with a heads-up display and traffic sign recognition.
3. Cargo space
The 2021 Audi A5 Sportback offers an impressive amount of cargo space for the small car segment. While the other versions of the A5 have significantly smaller trunks, the Sportback offers 21.8 cu-ft of space behind the rear seats and 35 cu-ft with the rear seats folded. That’s more than enough space for a generous amount of luggage or a couple of particularly hefty shopping trips.
4. Comfort that exceeds the other A5s
The 2021 Audi A5 Sportback, as a hatchback, prioritizes comfort a little more than the coupe and cabriolet models of the A5 do. It seats five, while the others seat four, and the front seats are spacious and heavily cushioned. The back seats, like many small cars, offer less room, but the Sportback does have the biggest rear seats of the A5 body styles. They’re still roomy enough and will allow most adults to sit comfortably.
5. Smart interior
The interior design of the 2021 Audi A5 Sportback is particularly sharp – one of the best in its class. It’s modern, grown up, luxurious, and filled with high-quality materials throughout. It’s also quiet, thanks to the excellence of the aforementioned interior materials. Additionally, there’s an appealing 10-inch high-resolution display for the infotainment system, which is clear and easy to navigate, and wireless Apple CarPlay® connectivity now comes as standard. While Android Auto™ isn’t supported, there is a USB cable connection to enable that.
