2022 Audi A5 Sportback review

1. Sport suspension now standard for hatchbacks 

The 2022 Audi A5 Sportback is the hatchback version of the A5, and for 2022, Audi introduced sport suspension as standard on this body type. Sport suspension is desirable for a lot of driving situations. The shock absorbers and springs are tuned in a way that makes for better handling around corners, sharpening the driving experience and giving you more control behind the wheel. 

2. Optional Black Optic package 

If you’re shopping for a 2022 Audi A5 Sportback and want a slightly different look, keep your eyes peeled for one with the Black Optic package. This package was introduced for the base model in 2022 and includes black-painted wheels and gloss black exterior trim. Both of these elevate the look of the Sportback significantly and give an extra edge of cool to an already sophisticated-looking vehicle. 

3. Generous cargo space 

The 2022 Audi A5 Sportback offers a surprising amount of cargo space. While the coupe and cabriolet versions are fairly diminutive in the back, the Sportback offers 21.8 cu-ft of space behind the rear seats and 35 cu-ft with the seats folded, which is generous for the small car segment. It's more than enough for a few suitcases, a big bundle of sports equipment, small furniture pieces, or multiple dogs excited for a day out. 

4. Peppy engines 

The standard engine in the 2022 Audi A5 Sportback is the 201-hp turbocharged four-cylinder that was introduced in 2021, which is plenty powerful enough for most drivers. Alternatively, the optional turbo-four engine offers 261 hp. The standard Sportback engine achieves a very impressive EPA-estimated 29 combined mpg, which means you can go further between fill ups.

5. Improved connectivity 

The 2022 Audi A5 Sportback boosted its connectivity for that year by introducing wireless connectivity for Android Auto^™, which previously required a USB connection. Apple CarPlay^® connectivity continues to be available and the Sportback also features Bluetooth^® as standard. Available Wi-Fi hotspot is available as an additional infotainment feature, and everything can be accessed via a crisp 10.1-inch touchscreen.
