1. The front trunk

Looking for an electric vehicle (EV) that's ready for a party? The 2021 Mustang Mach-E could be the one for you. The front trunk isn't just a practical storage area—it's drainable, too. That means you get 4.8 cubic feet of storage space that can be filled with ice and beverages during your next camping trip. Or if you're back from a hike and need somewhere to put your damp, muddy gear, the front trunk is ready.
2. Suite of advanced driver aids

Like many EVs, the 2021 Mach-E is full of high-tech features. Look for Ford's CoPilot360™ features that make driving easier than ever. Adaptive cruise control, for example, adjusts your speed to maintain the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you—very handy if you spend a lot of time on the highway. You can also expect lane-centering features, rear parking sensors, and much more, all designed to make your journey as painless as possible.
3. Listen your way

No matter what you like to listen to while you drive, the 2021 Mustang Mach-E has you covered. The 15.5-inch touchscreen with navigation gives you all the info you'll need for your trip, while the standard six-speaker audio system can be connected to a variety of devices. Bluetooth® connectivity and smartphone integration through Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® ensure you can listen to the music, audiobooks, and podcasts of your choice. There are also four USB ports and a wireless charger, so all your devices' power needs are covered.
4. Three fun drive modes

The 2021 Mustang Mach-E feels like three vehicles in one, with three active drive modes that can turn your vehicle from a mild-mannered EV into a wild muscle car that sounds and feels like its gas-powered namesake. Choose from Whisper, Engage, and Unbridled to find the “engine" sounds, responsiveness, and ambient lighting that suit your mood. On days where you want electric serenity, flip into Whisper mode—it's whisper quiet.
5. Great range figures

The standard-range 68kWh battery on the Select and Premium Mach-E trims delivers an EPA-estimated 211 miles of range when paired with eAWD, and an EPA-estimated 230 miles of range with RWD—both when fully charged.
That's plenty for most drivers, but if you need a little more range, the 88kWh battery that's available on the Premium trim and up will get you an EPA-estimated 300 miles of range on a full charge.2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E video review

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E FAQ
It is! The Mustang Mach-E is a battery-powered compact crossover SUV. Rear-wheel-drive models have one electric motor, while the eAWD version has two—one at each axle. A choice of two battery options influences the range capability of your Mach-E. Charging options include standard home sockets and public charging stations.
The 2021 Mach-E has adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, a particularly useful feature for busy commuters. This smooth tech feature takes the stress out of traffic by automatically maintaining a preset distance from the vehicle in front of you.
You'll love the Mach-E's instant torque; its off-the-line acceleration is incredibly exciting. According to Ford, the fastest 2021 Mach-E is the GT trim with the Performance Edition package, delivering a blistering zero-to-60 time of 3.5 seconds, when new. The rest of the lineup is also impressive on that front—all reach 60 mph from a standing start in under 6.1 seconds. The top speed for the Mach-E is set at 124 mph.
The Mustang Mach-E first came on the market for the 2021 model year. Other than the name, there's really no relation to the Mustang sport coupe or convertible. This is a four-door, five-passenger small crossover SUV with a fully electric powertrain.
Ford made an effort to give the Mach-E distinctive Mustang-like styling, though. While the look is certainly a departure from the traditional two-door Mustang, it's still curvaceous and exciting, particularly for an SUV. The hatchback-style liftgate in the back opens up wide to help you load and unload items into the cargo area.
The Mach-E comes in four main trim levels. The base version is the Mach-E Select, and it comes reasonably well equipped with standard features. Technology and driver aids are strong points in particular. Move up to the California Route 1 for a panoramic roof and a surround-view camera system, among other features. The next trim, Premium, gets even more comfort features. Then there's the GT that gets the most power and sportiest performance. Ford also offered a First Edition for the 2021 model year only. It's similar to the Premium trim but has a few special cosmetic enhancements.
Getting inside the Mach-E feels like a different experience. You press a small circular button to pop the doors open instead of using traditional door handles. It's a neat feature. You should be able to climb inside without much trouble because there is good head clearance despite the fastback styling. The seats are also positioned at a convenient height for easy access.
The seats themselves are comfortable, though more lateral support and additional adjustments would be nice. Depending on your height and driving position, the steering wheel might not telescope far enough for your liking. Make sure to try it out. While a few buttons and switches feel a bit too plasticky, in general the Mach-E's interior looks and feels upscale.
The Mustang Mach-E is a fun SUV to drive. And it's quick—an AWD Extended Range version sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds in Edmunds' testing. For comparison, the sportiest Ford Escape Edmunds tested did 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds. But more importantly, the Mach-E is easy to drive. Power delivery is smooth thanks to the electric system, and you can use one-pedal driving to come to a comfortable and complete stop simply by taking your foot off the accelerator.
But slowing down the usual way—by pressing the brake pedal—could be better. There isn't much feeling delivered back to you through the pedal, and it can be tricky to stop smoothly. The steering and handling are thankfully more responsive. While not as thrilling as a traditional gas-powered Mustang, the Mach-E is easy to learn and provides momentary thrills behind the wheel.

Interior details
Inside the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, you'll find plenty of space as well as adjustable seating upfront to allow you to get into the perfect driving position. If cargo space is a priority, you'll enjoy the maximum cargo volume behind the first row—with 59.6 cubic feet to play with, your road trip options feel endless. Plus, there's 29 cu. ft. in the trunk, and an additional 4.8 cu. ft. in the front trunk, which is handy for a couple of shopping bags or muddy sports gear.
Child seat details
The Mach-E is generously proportioned and well-suited to family life. There are two complete sets of LATCH restraints for the rear outboard seats and an upper tether for the middle seat. All seat types are accommodated, including convertible, front- and rear-facing, infant, and booster seats. While most front-seat passengers won't find their seating position affected, a taller person with a rear-facing seat behind them might have more of a tighter fit. Two seats in the outboard positions are easily accommodated, and depending on your seat choice, three across may be possible too.
Performance
With an exhilarating mix of Mustang heritage and electric torque, the Mach-E is a force to be reckoned with on the road. The 2021 Mach-E is powered by a single electric motor for its RWD models, and dual motors at the front and rear axle for the eAWD Mach-E.
If maximum range rules your buying decision, choose a Mach-E with RWD and the 88kWh extended-range battery for an EPA-estimated 300 miles of range on a full charge.
The standard-range battery delivers an EPA-estimated 211 miles of range when paired with eAWD, and an EPA-estimated 230 miles of range with RWD (both when new and fully charged). If you want the heart of your Mustang Mach-E to beat a bit faster, opt for the 480-hp, 600 lb-ft GT model. A performance package is also available that boosts the torque even more (to 634 lb-ft). The Mach-E quickly accelerates thanks to the all-electric instant torque, with the performance-minded GT model achieving a zero-to-60 time of 3.8 seconds (according to the manufacturer, when new).
