Third generation Honda Insight
When the Honda Insight first came to market in 2000, it was the first gas-electric hybrid in America. That compact two-door hatchback was all about fuel efficiency, and when Honda introduced the third-generation Insight in 2019, it carried the same purpose. However, unlike the original, the third-generation Insight arrived as a much more practical four-door sedan. The Insight offered a wide range of features like Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™, an eight-inch touchscreen display, automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control.
The third-generation Insight received a substantial boost in power and efficiency compared to its second-gen, four-door predecessor (produced from 2010 to 2014). Under the hood was a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine matched to an electric motor and an electronic continuously variable transmission that drove the front wheels. With an EPA estimate of 52 mpg combined,
the Insight bested almost every other non-plug-in vehicle on the market, with only the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius achieving better fuel economy.Model highlights
