The Infiniti QX80 is all-new for the 2025 model year and offers a distinctive design that separates it from other full-size luxury SUVs with a distinctive grille, unique exterior lighting, and available 22-inch wheels. Appropriate to its position as the flagship SUV of the Infiniti lineup, the QX80 boasts a luxurious cabin with high-quality materials and stylish, comfortable seating throughout. Dual 14.3-inch display screens for the gauges and infotainment system, along with a third screen for climate and other vehicle functions, add a high-tech vibe to the cabin. The QX80 also gets a new powertrain, replacing the V8 with a turbocharged V6 engine.

Second generation Infiniti QX80

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 represents the second generation of the brand’s flagship full-size SUV since it was renamed in 2014. With its bold new grille, slim LED daytime running lights, illuminated Infiniti logo, and stylish new LED taillights, the QX80 easily stands out as something special among luxury SUVs. Inside, it’s just as special, with available semi-aniline pleated leather seats that feature multiple power adjustments as well as heating, cooling, and massage functions. Second-row seats are equally plush, available with all the same luxury features. Third-row seats are surprisingly spacious and even offer heating as an option.

There are also significant changes under the hood. The V8 that had been a staple of the QX80 is gone, replaced by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. The 450 horsepower on tap is a considerable increase over the outgoing V8, and fuel economy also improves with a 17 mpg combined rating with four-wheel drive

. When properly equipped, the QX80 can tow up to 8,500 pounds, when properly equipped.

2014 - 2024

First generation Infiniti QX80

The Infiniti QX80 wasn’t exactly all-new in 2014—the only thing that changed was the name. So, while technically this was the first year of the QX80, it had not changed much from the similarly named Infiniti QX56 introduced in 2011. The full-size luxury SUV was initially available as a single model with an extensive standard equipment list featuring leather trim, heated front seats, tri-zone climate control, and an eight-inch touchscreen. The QX80 benefited from refreshed styling in 2018, but it wasn’t until 2020 that it was equipped with a new infotainment system that added Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Under the QX80’s large hood was a 5.6-liter V8 engine putting out 400 horsepower, and this was the only engine offered for the duration of the QX80’s first generation. While it provided good performance and a towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds when properly equipped

, the big V8 was not very fuel-efficient, delivering an EPA-rated 15 mpg combined figure when equipped with four-wheel drive.
