First generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The Grand Cherokee L arrived in 2021, heralding a new version of the standard Grand Cherokee. The all-new Grand Cherokee L offered a longer body and three rows of seating for six or seven passengers. Models with second-row captain's seats accommodate six passengers, while the bench seat models can seat seven.
Under the hood, Jeep uses the proven Pentastar V6 engine or an available 5.7-liter V8. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed transmission with available four-wheel drive. As a family SUV, towing capacity is important, and the Grand Cherokee L, when properly equipped, will pull up to 6,200 pounds with the V6 or 7,200 pounds with the V8.
The Grand Cherokee L is offered in four different trim levels, and these have changed somewhat over the years. The V8 engine was offered only on top trims with four-wheel drive before it was discontinued for the 2025 model year.
