Third generation Kia Sorento
Kia’s midsize Sorento was in the heart of the market for three-row crossover SUVs in this generation. Driveline choices ranged from a basic four-cylinder to a more powerful V6 engine, with a turbocharged four-cylinder option available on the midgrade EX and SX trims.
Inside, the Sorento was available as a two-row SUV with seating for five passengers or a three-row configuration with seating for seven. This generation of Sorento is known for being comfortable and reasonably spacious, except in the third row. A basic eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system was available on most trims, with a smaller 4.3-inch screen used on the most basic trim levels. However, wire-connected smartphone integration was available for all years, and an Infinity premium sound system was available on top trims.

Second generation Kia Sorento
The second-generation Kia Sorento was specifically designed around the needs of the American consumer. With a fresh new design and lighter-weight platform, the new Sorento could be economical with a four-cylinder engine, but top trims received a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Manual transmissions were available on lower-priced models through 2014. Starting in 2015, only an automatic transmission was available. The standard Sorento drivetrain was front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive was available.
Inside, the second-generation Sorento was focused on comfort and utility. The second generation received a midcycle refresh and update for the 2014 model year, getting a new instrument panel, new front and rear exterior styling, improved ride quality, a more powerful V6, and a new top-line SX-L trim. Infotainment in this generation included an available digital gauge cluster and eight-inch touchscreen. A CD player and Bluetooth® technology were part of the standard equipment list.
