2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar review

1. Choice of engine options 

If horsepower isn't a major factor in your buying process, the base 247-horsepower 2.0L four-cylinder will do the job. However, if you want a bit more under the hood, the R-Dynamic S trim can be found with the optional 3.0L six-cylinder that makes a more robust 335 hp. If you need speed, take a look at the top-spec Velar HST trim that has an upgraded 3.0L — making a stout 395 horsepower.  

2. Loads of standard equipment 

The base 2023 Velar is anything but basic and comes with lots of standard luxury and convenience features. You'll get full leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker Meridian^® audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ smartphone connectivity, an integrated navigation system, and a panoramic roof all as standard. No need to sacrifice comfort for your next epic road trip! 

3. Land Rover capability 

To say that Land Rover has a great reputation for building off-road vehicles is a bit of an understatement. While the Velar is likely to spend most of the time on the pavement, it's great to know that you have standard all-wheel drive when the weather gets a bit sideways. Take a look at the Dynamic Handling Package and you'll get air suspension with active dampers to smooth out the bumps as well as cool off-road driving modes to dial in just the right amount of traction regardless of the surface.  

4. Lots of space 

Your next big road trip is going to require room for your gear as well as room for your passengers. The 2023 Velar has seating for up to five as well as 34.4 cu-ft of cargo space behind the second row. Add in generous legroom (40.2 inches in the front and 37.2 inches in the rear) and you've got a great recipe for a fun outing with family or friends.  

5. Tons of options 

Sure, the base S trim is great, but if you want to ramp up the luxury and comfort, take a look at the R-Dynamic S or HST trim levels. While the R-Dynamic S adds sportier touches inside and out, the HST trim maximizes your experience with synthetic suede upholstery, standard air suspension, a heads-up display, and the Meridian audio system. There are also a host of packages, such as the Cold Climate Package, which adds great features like a heated windshield and a headlight washer system.
