The 2017 Nissan Titan is fully redesigned, with a more powerful standard with V8 power and updated interior
After no updates in 2016, the Nissan Titan was fully redesigned for the 2017 model year, with aggressive exterior styling, an all-new interior and a powerful V8 engine standard on all trims. The V8 provides strong feeling acceleration, and the steering and suspension make for overall good driving manners and a comfortable ride on most surfaces. Offered in standard cab with an 8-foot bed, King Cab with a 6-foot 6-inch bed, and Crew Cab with a 5-foot 7-inch bed, the available trims include S, SL, SV, Pro-4X and Platinum Reserve, providing a good range of price and features across the board.
The Titan’s biggest shortcoming is a lack of variety. While rivals like the Ford F-150, Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado offer multiple engine, cab and bed sizes, the Titan has a single engine and axle. Its specs are fine, but on the low end of the competitive spectrum. Additionally, the 2017 Titan isn’t available with advanced driver assistive systems such as automatic emergency braking, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity aren’t available, either.

What We Like
Comfort: One of the Titan’s strong suits is its ride comfort, with this big truck maintaining its composure on smooth and even rougher pavement. The comfortable front seats enhance that comfort, and the quick-acting automatic climate control reacts quickly to maintain a comfortable interior temperature.
Interior: The Titan’s straightforward interior styling features a column-mounted shift lever and oversized buttons and door handles. The high driver’s seating position gives a commanding view of the road and makes the Titan easier to drive around town, but taller drivers may wish the seat adjusted lower.
Acceleration: The standard V8 engine provides plenty of power and a good acceleration feel thanks to the responsive throttle pedal. Instrumented testing shows that it feels quicker than it is though, with actual acceleration on par with its rivals.
What Needs Improvement
Technology: Considering the 2017 Nissan Titan was an all-new truck, it was disappointing that it didn’t debut with the latest technology, such as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Advanced driver assist systems such as automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning are also absent.
