5 reasons to buy the 2014 Porsche Cayman
1. Choice of six-cylinder engines
The base Cayman comes equipped with a 2.7L six-cylinder engine that offers 275 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque when you press the gas pedal. Porsche says the base Cayman can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 5.4 seconds. If you’re looking for a bit more performance, stepping up to the Cayman S brings a larger, 3.4L six-cylinder engine with 325 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, Porsche claims the zero-to-60 time drops to 4.7 seconds.
2. Stunningly good looks
When designing the Cayman, Porsche wanted to ensure it was instantly recognizable as a Porsche. You will have no question about which car is yours in the parking lot with the stunning curves and proportions of the 2014 Porsche Cayman. Other key highlights include headlights inspired by Porsche’s racing heritage of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as a speed-activated rear spoiler that deploys at 75 mph. This spoiler not only looks attractive but also adds additional aerodynamic support.
3. Two capable transmissions
In a world where more and more sports cars are shifting to automatic-only transmission options, you’ll be thrilled that you can still row your own gears in the Cayman. Both the Cayman and the Cayman S are offered with a six-speed manual transmission. If you’re looking for something that can do the shifting for you, Porsche’s excellent PDK® transmission is available with seven ratios to move the Cayman forward. This transmission offers you control via steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles.
4. Incredible handling and balance
The 2014 Cayman was designed with a chassis to match the power of its six-cylinder engines. It offers an independent suspension with features such as lightweight spring-strut axles and a cross member at the front axle, improving stiffness. These improvements help the Cayman provide greater directional stability, sharper steering, and a handling experience that will always put a smile on your face. Porsche also offers a number of enhancements to make the Cayman even more capable on the road and the track.
5. Available Leather Package
While some sports cars may keep you in a minimalist interior with bare-bones options, the 2014 Porsche Cayman offers a luxury cabin with premium materials. The Cayman offers a Leather Package that enhances the interior of the Cayman by finishing various items in the cabin with lush leather upholstery. Some of those items include the instrument surround, center console storage compartment lid, and door armrests. You will feel like you bought an exotic machine with the supple leather surrounding you as you drive your Cayman.
