Jaguar’s first and only electric vehicle, the I-Pace, is a five-passenger luxury crossover SUV with styling that clearly puts it in this British car company’s lineup. Offered only in the R-Dynamic HSE trim after 2022, the I-Pace featured an elegant cabin with high-end materials throughout. The cabin feels roomy, with effective space for front- and rear-seat passengers, enhanced by the standard panoramic roof. A dual-screen infotainment system and digital driver’s display give the I-Pace a high-tech vibe. First generation Jaguar I-Pace
When the Jaguar I-Pace arrived in 2019, there were just a few luxury electric vehicles available in America, and it was one of the first mainstream competitors to target Tesla. Slightly smaller than the Jaguar F-Pace, the I-Pace had sleek lines that made it look more like a sporty hatchback than an SUV, but it still offered SUV utility. Multiple trims were available at launch—including a limited First Edition—but by 2022 (after taking a one-year sabbatical), only one trim was offered. The electric powertrain allowed for a more spacious cabin, including a flat floor in the rear seat, which added to the roomy feel. The I-Pace was discontinued after the 2024 model year.
The I-Pace was powered by a dual-motor electric drivetrain delivering 394 horsepower. With 512 lb-ft of torque and the grip of all-wheel drive, the Jaguar felt quick with instant throttle response. An adaptive suspension was also available, which improved handling and ride quality. As charging technology improved, the new I-Pace trims could get from a 10% to 80% charge in about 40 minutes on a DC fast charger.
