A: Yes, it has been reported that production of the Jaguar XJ sedan ceased in July of 2019, though there have been rumors that it will be brought back as a battery/electric sedan for the 2020 model year. As of October 2019, Jaguar has not confirmed or denied these rumors.

Q: Why is the Jaguar named after an animal?

A: The car maker's original name was actually "The Swallow Sidecar Company," with the Jaguar being one of the vehicle models. The shareholders decided to change the company's name to "Jaguar" in 1945; it is believed this name, along the with jumping jaguar logo, was chosen to symbolize speed, strength, and grace.

Originally founded in 1922 as The Swallow Sidecar Company in Whitley, England, Jaguar is a popular maker of luxury sedans, SUVs, and sports cars. One of their more widely known vehicles is the full-size XJ sedan, which was first released in 1968. More recent model years, including the 2019 XJ, offer generous standard equipment such as a supercharged 3.0L V6 engine at 340 hp, a self-leveling suspension, and a panoramic sunroof. 

Meanwhile, the Jaguar F-Pace compact SUV offers a more spacious cabin with 33.5 cubic feet of storage behind its second row of seats (2018 model year). Its base supercharged engine, selectable drive modes, 11-speaker sound system, and panoramic sunroof offer an enjoyable ride for drivers and passengers alike.

Those interested in a Jaguar sports car may want to check out the F-Type convertible, which boasts a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine at 296 hp in its 2018 model year and all-wheel drive. Additional features include an active sport exhaust, sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and leather/simulated suede upholstery throughout.
