Generation Overview

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was all-new for the 2019 model year, representing a drastic change from the previous-generation model in nearly every single aspect. While certain engines and other features were carried over from the outgoing third-generation model, the fourth-generation Silverado introduced several unique features, including a turbocharged four-cylinder engine – a feature not available on other full-size pickups of the same year. The 2019 Silverado 1500 also boasts a taller, more commanding look that largely does away with the squared-off appearance of the previous generation.

What hasn’t changed is the sheer diversity of trim levels for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss exist on the lower end of the trim spectrum, with the LT, RST and LT Trail Boss making up the middle tier. At the high end are the LTZ and High Country. Most trims come with their own distinctive front fascia, making it easier to know which trim level you’re looking at.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s engine lineup is just as diverse, starting with the 285-hp 4.3L V6 that comes standard on the WT, Custom and Custom Trail Boss. The 5.3L V8 enjoys greater availability across the trim range along with a significant power boost. However, the 5.3L V8’s 355 hp pales in comparison to the 6.2L V8’s 420-hp output. You’ll find this large-displacement engine as an optional feature on the LTZ and High Country. The turbocharged 2.7L engine was a new addition for 2019, boasting 310 hp while returning an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined on 2WD models.

Some of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500’s more noteworthy features include the LTZ and High Country’s power tailgate, an available full-color head-up display, an optional USB Type C port for enhanced connectivity and an available rear camera mirror that offers a wide-angle camera view with fewer obstructions. The available HD Surround Vision feature displays a 360-degree view of the full-size pickup’s surroundings on the touchscreen.
