About the Chevrolet Sonic LTZ

Vehicle Summary

Who says a small car can't deliver powerful and punchy performance? The Chevrolet Sonic is a subcompact car that replaced the Chevy Aveo in 2012 and offers a peppy ride for up to five passengers. Even more specifically, the top-of-the-line Sonic LTZ trim was offered through the 2016 model year and boasts a number of luxuries and tech features that will take your driving experience to the next level. This range-topping trim was even available with a turbocharged engine across every model year it was offered—and that turbocharged engine became standard for the 2015 and 2016 model years.

If you're looking for a small car that's well equipped and ready for adventure, a used Chevrolet Sonic LTZ is worth a look.

Chevrolet Sonic LTZ Popular Features

The engine you'll find on a used Chevrolet Sonic LTZ will depend on the exact model year you're looking at. For 2012-2014 models, a 1.8L four-cylinder engine was standard on this trim, although a turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder engine was optional. By the 2015 model year, that turbocharged engine became standard on the LTZ trim, so you can enjoy some extra oomph behind the wheel.

Beyond its powertrain, other features on the Sonic LTZ can vary slightly by model year. On the 2013 LTZ, for example, you'll find such luxuries as heated front seats, premium vinyl upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel for added comfort and sophistication inside the cabin. On the tech front, a sleek touchscreen interface with Bluetooth® phone and audio connectivity await you.

By the 2016 model, an even longer list of standard equipment can be found on the Sonic LTZ. This includes a sporty rear spoiler that cuts down on drag while adding even more sleek style to the car's exterior. A rearview camera is also standard on this model year, providing you with an extra set of eyes when you're backing up. These features are in addition to already-standard equipment found on the 2016 Sonic, which includes:

  • Keyless entry
  • 60/40 split-folding seat backs
  • Four-speaker sound system

Don't be surprised if you come across some additional features as you shop used Sonic LTZ models, too. This trim was offered with some optional add-ons and packages, like the Dusk Package on the 2016 model that tacks on 18-inch wheels, leather and simulated-suede upholstery, and exclusive exterior trim accents.

Bad luck

Hasn't even hit its first tune up yet and has been in the shop 3 times already, twice for the same thing. Car is cheaply made and the electronics are slow, mpg is great but fuel range is terrible. If you want one get a turbo model, the other ones will just let you down.

Kickass Commuter Car

Easy cargo loading, hatch is rock solid, suspension feels awesome, interior is nicer than I expected, and the fuel economy is great. Sits high enough off the ground to be comfortable, and for a person of medium build like myself, the car is very ergonomic. Everything feels well constructed.

Nice car with great value

This car was a great buy. For the price, it comes with a lot. It is nice-looking inside and out, includes bluetooth, controls on the steering wheel, tons of dashboard alerts, which are really helpful. It fits in any parking spot! I will say, if you have kids, it is a small car. We have two boys who are both still in car seats. So, there isn't a ton of leg room for them, but they still fit fine. And for a compact car, it has a large trunk space. I think this trunk is bigger than our last car, which was a larger car. We can still fit the stroller and tons of other stuff in there.
