2011 Chevrolet TraverseRich - Travelers rest, SC02/14/2015
My wife and I were shopping for an SUV because she grew tired of minivans. She saw a traverse and fell in love. She likes being up off the pavement higher than the van and likes the third row seat. She also likes how the seats in the rear and middle fold forward flat for hauling large items.
Me being mechanically minded had questions about the traverse's 3.6L engine. I found some reports of the timing chain jumping out of time. I researched and talked to 3 or 4 mechanics. Two who work for a Chevrolet dealer. They told me that changing the oil regularly (about 4 to 5k miles on full synthetic which is what the manual calls for) will keep the chain running smooth.
Fuel mileage is good at about 22 on the interstate. Ride is comfortable.
A lot of car for the price!

If you are wanting to loose that mini van mom title, this is the vehicle for you. You still have the same duties as a mom but your doing them in style. It's good for a road trip I drove it 2 hour away to visit my daughter and it was a great ride. You do have to keep your eyes on your speed because the Traverse has such a sooth ride you could go over the speed limit
Great cargo space

We bought this car shortly after our twins were born when we realized we couldn't fit us + the dog + the stroller all in a sedan.
We bought the Traverse thinking that we would eventually be using the third row regularly. With the third row up, there's barely room for our double stroller and definitely not room for anything else. We keep the third row down and only use it on occasion when we have friends and family staying with us. With the third row down, we have plenty of space for everything we need to carry.
It's easy to install car seats in most positions in the car (though our car seats won't fit in the outer seats in the third row) and the ride is comfortable, even for our 4+ hour drives we've been making.
Vehicles with third-row seating have plenty of features for nearly every type of driver. For families that need a great family-friendly vehicle, SUVs, crossovers, and minivans with third-row seats give passengers roomy interiors and still have enough power to haul plenty of vacation equipment or moving supplies.
