Great Car, Was Not Informed of Transmission Recall
2012 Ford FocusDanielle Stelzer - Tampa, FL04/15/2016
I never pictured myself driving a Ford Focus but had to find something reasonably priced and quick after getting into an accident. My Focus is a sporty hatchback model with a sunroof which is great for my lifestyle as someone who was a previous Jeep owner. The only issue with this car is that I wasn't made aware of the transmission recall that needed to be repaired. This is something Ford will cover, however it takes several months and a few trips to the dealership to get the issue resolved. Once it is resolved, they warn you that this may occur every so often due to how the car is built. I would rate this car 5 stars if it didn't have this issue, however it has been pretty frustrating dealing with the transmission every so often.
Beware of Automatic Transmission
2013 Ford FocusNicole Simonetti - San Diego, CA02/29/2016
The car in general is a good car... BUT
The "Ford Power Shift Automatic Transmission" is a hybrid between an automatic and a manual, with a clutch. The car shudders when shifting, lags between gears, and shifts hard. It is also noisy and sounds like there's loose parts. Ford has a FIELD SERVICE ACTION (FSA) for the clutch and computer controlling the transmission. If you take it to Ford, they will replace the clutch free of charge, but it takes 6 weeks to get the part ordered. Truthfully, my car has been running better since I go the new clutch a couple of weeks ago. But I believe buyers should be CLEARLY INFORMED that the car they are about to buy has a transmission that they've never heard of before.
Economic but Troublesome
2014 Ford FocusGeorge Korakas - Las Vegas, NV05/02/2016
The car gets roughly 28mpg in the city and 40-50mpg highway doing better the longer you travel. The engine is made for Manual transmission so BEWARE, all small economic 2 liter engine cars have problems with transmission and are not strong engines. This car DOES NOT have a lot of power or torque. If you want an economical car to go to work to and back, this is a great choice.
