Customer Review Summary for Ford Minivans and Vans
ok van but could be better
2006 Ford Freestarwrh7787 - louisville,ky06/27/2008
This van was the third freestar I owned, I averaged 50,000 miles a year and each van had transmission issues. Overall the vans were good but noisey inside and cheap plastic controls made it seem less worthy.
The fold down back seat is great, but every single van broke the handle to fold the seat down. Even under factory warranty ford wouldnt replace the handle, they said it was abuse...how do you abuse a handle with a strap??!!
gas mileage was the same between both the engines, i averaged 19 miles to the gallon in town or on the highway with or without the air on. The rear brakes worked well but the rotors warped every 20,000 miles on the front.
But compared to the chrysler and the checvy it rode better and had more power.
Great value ride

The 28 MPG on a 15 gallon tank will carry you to most day trip locations. With the extended wheel base model, my wife and I (both under 6 foot) have made overnight travels ( with the use of a complementary mat) found it quite cozy for resting. The only reason for not giving it a five star rating is the small 2.5 engine lacks power when towing our motorcycle. We also lost down to 17mpg. The vehicle handles well, works under varied road conditions, and seems to break effectively, even when pulling a trailer. My weight estimate of trailer, motorcycle, and gear is probably pushing the high side of 1600 pounds.
Great car to drive, smooth ride, turns on a dime.

Easy to drive, great on gas and hauls a ton of stuff. I'm tall and there is a lot of head room as will windows and I haven't found any blind spots
