If you're looking for the space offered in a van, but don't want the monthly payments of a fancier minivan option, the Kia Sedona is a fantastic family vehicle.
We are a family of 5 that includes three children. Our current vehicle was a sedan that we had outgrown, and so I decided that we would like to purchase a minivan. I had no particular make or model in mind, just that it be a large vehicle with comfortable seats. After a week of online searching and walking the carlots we came across a 2005 Kia Sedona. It was previously owned, but only had 39K on it. It came equipped with a sunroof, DVD player, leather seats, CD player, and tinted windows. Since we bought this vehicle in July 2006, I have been very impressed with the way that this vehicle has performed, and it has exceeded my expectations. We took a family vacation to Orlando in August, and drove there in our Sedona. It handled very well on the highway and in the city, and got better gas mileage than my former sedan. We encountered some bad weather, and the tires had very good traction on the wet roads (the ABS system works very well!). The only problem we have found is that the cargo space is limited. However, there is a roof rack, and we fixed the limited cargo space problem by removing one of the unused seats in the van. Removing one of the seats freed up a lot of extra space and was enough to accomodate 3 large suitcases and several smaller bags. Also, removing the seat was relatively simple. This minivan is excellent for roadtrips and everyday use, and is ideal for large families. The DVD player is a lifesaver on long trips, and the sunroof is a welcome addition. I would recommend the Kia Sedona for anyone who is looking for a minivan to fit their families, and also to anyone who is having a hard time transitioning to a "soccer mom" vahicle. My Kia Sedona handles like a car, has a very impressive interior and helped ease the transition from "sporty car" driver to minivan driver for me.
At first, I was a little skeptical about purchasing a Kia brand car because I have never owed a Kia. But when my Oldsmobile Silhouette broke down, I need another van rather quickly because I have 3 small children. Well let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. This Kia Sedona handles very well on the road and it has plenty of room for my kids and all their stuff. This van has been a pleasure to drive.
