Better than I expected

Although the initial cost, even at 3 yrs old, car cost+home charger cost, was a lot by used car standards, passing up gas stations today gives me great satisfaction. My home electric bill hasn't increased by that much either. Since I don't drive that much, just in town shopping and Dr. appointments, the relatively low miles per charge is fine with me. The performance, fast pickup on entering freeways, plus the car's solid build gives me a feeling of safety.

PROS
Reliability

I need a car when I need it. NIssan Leaf is listed on several car review sites for its reliability.

Power

Can't say the seconds but I can enter the freeway at less than 20 MPH and be at 70 MPH fast enough to stay ahead of oncoming traffic with room to spare.

CONS
Fuel Economy

It's economical alright, just doesn't go very far per charge. The shorter the drives the less go per charge too. Takes up to 4 hours to charge from 25% to 100%.

Cost to Maintain

The battery might last another 5 to 8 yrs and when it goes the replacement cost is likely to run $12-$15K! Cheaper than another car but not by much.

best car I've ever owned!

obviously saves on gas. if you are taking road trips have to allow for time to charge of course. I'm a bells and whistles guy, and it has so much tech, I love it! it rides so smooth and quiet. And FAST, I had no idea how quick EVs are. I can't recommend this type of car any higher, if I could give it 10 stars I would.

PROS
Fuel Economy

no gas cost at all

Styling

it's like a spaceship, I love it

Nissan Leaf EV

The Leaf is a joy to drive. Quiet, responsive and effortless. In B mode or E-Pedal mode the regeneration slows down or even stops the car for you when you touch the brake pedal. The high torque of the electric drive train gives you a lot of confidence in having power when you want it. The drive assist warns you of lane drift or approaching object. The blind spot sensors help you. The seats and form and fit are great. No brake wear, no oil changes, no emissions, no gasoline from dictators. Love this car! And a great price for an EV!
