About The Porsche Macan

Vehicle Summary

Do you love the look and abilities of a compact SUV, but wish there was one ready to tackle the turns with some serious power? The Porsche Macan was designed with the sports car enthusiast in mind who still needs room for their gear and groceries. First arriving on the scene in 2014 and still in its first generation, this luxury ride steps up to the plate with the engine, transmission, and suspension that belongs in a sweet coupe but is ready to play in a more practical environment. Its all-wheel drive is crafted to handle explorations off the beaten trail while inside you enjoy a complete suite of tech toys.

Introduced to the market as a little brother to the Porsche Cayenne, the Macan took its exterior design cues from Porsche history and added a pleasantly loud exhaust, the spirited 3.0L V6 engine, and a cockpit that wraps you in comfort. The upper trims of the 2014 and newer models offer an adaptive sport seat that adjusts bolsters, length, and lumbar while you wrap your hands around the heated steering wheel. Power is found virtually everywhere from the heated, folding side mirrors to the automatic liftgate.

An available air suspension is capable of smoothing out those little bumps in the road that can rattle your passengers on the daily drive. There is also the available active suspension management system that constantly adjusts for rapid changes in terrain, even when you go off-road.

S (2014 to present): The V6 engine gives the ride a bump of power and is highlighted with rain sensing wipers, an automatic liftgate, a ParkAssist system, and a multifunction sport steering wheel.

Turbo (2014 to 2018): Adaptive sport seats, leather surfaces, a heated steering wheel, Alcantara headliner, navigation, and the Bose® surround sound system come together for a spirited drive.

FAQ

Q: What does Porsche Macan mean?

A: Porsche selected the name Macan for their compact SUV carefully. In Indonesia, it is the word for tiger. Porsche says Macan brings to mind power, suppleness, and fascination.

Q: Does Porsche Macan come in manual transmission?

A: No. It features the PDK dual-clutch transmission, which is eager to shift seamlessly through the gears. It does have the option for you to work the paddle-shifters when in Sport mode, but functions generally as an automatic.

Q: Is Porsche Macan four-wheel drive?

A: Not technically. It does come equipped with a nicely performing all-wheel drive system, and when paired with the available active suspension management system, you have nine inches of ground clearance. This makes it a capable off-road vehicle when you want to leave the pavement behind.

Q: What engine does the Porsche Macan have?

A: The first models, 2014 and 2015, were released with the 3.0L V6 with 348 horsepower or the 3.6L Turbo kicking it up to 395 horsepower. In 2016, Porsche introduced the inline four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine with 248 horsepower for its Standard trim level.
