And after all these years I still love to drive it. The new Highlander is so much more sophisticated, many more "Gizmo's", that's why my wife drives the car most of the time.

It rides really nice, seats 6 adults comfortably, has a nice amount of storage space, and has great upgrades. The purchase price was a little higher than I would have liked, but is still within a manageable range. My parents are still driving their 2003 Highlander, so I'm hopeful this one will have an equally as long lifetime.

The third row seat, though seldom used, is a bonus. The heated front leather seats were a must for the metal in my body during cold winter weather. The height of the car is perfect for ease of entry & exit. The super low miles means this car drives like new. Everything works great! All my needs plus my desires came together perfectly in this vehicle.

Enough seats for each of our 3 children to have enough room on road trips. Fuel economy is good for its class but As an everyday driver we find ourselves at the gas pumps very often. The only other downside is adults don't fit in the third row but adults rarely sit back there so no big deal. Other than that it's a great car. Very comfy on long road trips and trustworthy in all weather conditions.

Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.75 reviews) The highlander is such a pleasure to drive and ride. All the controls are easily accessible. And there are so many compartments to hold, drinks, glasses, other items. The glove compartment is large enough to hold a road atlas. The car is a very quiet ride and this allows you to listen to the beautiful sound system. The seating is very comfortable. Every row of seats has their own heat/ac controls. The navigation system is a bit complicated but Toyota provides you with at-a-glance manuals so you don't get overwhelmed with the learning process. As far the ride - it is smooth over bumpy roads. We haven't used the 4 wheel drive yet but, I can't wait to see what this car can do. I could go on and on the comfort and plushness of this car. I am very happy with the Toyota Highlander and would highly recommend this car.

Reviews for Toyota Highlander

Overall Rating

4.7 out of 5(384 reviews)

2002 highlander v6 fwd

Highlander is a solid car. Decent gas mileage. Handles well. I bought it used at 60k and put about 6k in half a year. No problems so far. I test-drove a Tahoe and a 4-runner before getting the Highlander. Highlander felt more manageble and agile. The V6 (FWD) has nice pickup. Transmissions shifts funny sometimes - but that's minor stuff. Stock sound system is decent too (unless you are an audiophile.) I traded in a BMW 325 to get this car to accomodate expanding family. I do have more room in the car, but not much more. With two small children (= two carseats in the back) you can barely fit a third person in the back seat. I (210lbs, 5,11") could only handle a short 10 minute ride in the backseat.

- Pr. L, 2002 Toyota Highlander

It had most of what I needed; it is RWD

It has the room I need.

- Mischa Rivera, 2010 Toyota Highlander

Excellent SUV for a family!

It's a vehicle with proven quality and reliability. For a V-6, it gives good MPG combines and has great power to move around.
