After some extensive research and lots of test driving I went with the Yaris Hatchback. I was torn between a VW Beetle and the Yaris. Both great on gas but Toyota has, in my opinion, a higher level of reliability. And considering my small budget for repairs I knew I had to be smart and go with a car that is decent priced when it comes to repairs and will last forever.
I have had my car for just over a month and I love it. Its fun to drive and great on the gas now that its nearing $4!!
Wish it was a little roomier, I am almost 6' tall. It is fine for me and a passenger long distance, but anyone behind me is pretty uncomfortable. Other than that, I'd recommend this car to a commuter. No question!!
great commuter car

Great little car for someone who spends time traveling the highway for work. Easy to maneuver in tight parking decks and an awesome car for a teen to drive with new permit. Also, nice car for jetting around town with kids. If your looking for a fun little car with great fuel economy, consider a Toyota Yaris.

Toyota falsely advertised the mpg. They say it should make 30/38 and I'm getting 20 mpg!!! This is so far off - it's inexcusable. I made the same mileage with the car I sold - my 1971 datsun which I had owned for over 45 years! Pick-up not as good and the shifting gears not as smooth as my old car. Turning radius is lousy. Windshield wiper controls in a stupid place - constantly hitting them which is really bad for the windshield.
There are a few other little things that I don't like. What I do like is having air conditioning and I do enjoy the power steering. I had one other big concern which is when I had to make an extreme sudden stop, the brakes made an awful noise. I had my mechanic check it out and they claim it's normal!
Toyota builds nearly every type of car for every kind of driver, and used models are highly sought after, thanks to their reputation. Whether you’re looking for a used sedan, SUV, pickup truck, minivan, sports car, or fuel-efficient hybrid, there’s almost certainly a Toyota out there for you.
