Never in my life would I have expected to drive a Volvo. I was looking at a Mercedes, and i ended up hating it. If the Volvo wasn't sitting two cars over, I may never have sat in one. Instantly fell in love. The absolute top of the line Volvo Sedan, very large, very powerful, drives smooth as a dream. I drove it right after purchasing it, on a 7,000 mile trip and it was great. The fit and finish of the car is outstanding. Massive trunk, extremely comfortable, back seat has just as much leg room as front seat. Mileage seems to average around 28mpg. I have had two issues with the car so far. An evaporator system leak that required the fuel filler neck to replaced under warranty, and the Information Console / Screen reboots on occasion. They updated the software, which improved it, but it still occurs occasionally. May need to be replaced, very expensive, need to have reviewed under warranty.

Pros

Ride and Handling: Absolutely great. The car will literally go 100mph and feel like you are doing 40. Great for those long west Texas highways.
Interior Space: very large and accommodating. First car that I have seen with just as much rear leg room as front legroom.

Cons

Cost to Maintain: Very concerned about costs to repair some of the complex items.
Technology and Entertainment: The Volvo specific technology display center is a bit clunky. I know they have recently updated to Google on newer years, but the navigation often can't find things and search is difficult.

I will also say I don’t like how you cannot manually check the oil level of the car with a dipstick. I know these new models of cars don’t put one in and you are just supposed to go off of what the car says, but I never trust a computer over myself.

Pros

Cabin Noise: Minimal cabin noise
Styling: Very beautiful car inside and out
Ride and Handling: Super comfortable and handles the road really well

Cons

Technology and Entertainment: Sometimes can freeze up or get confused and no way to turn it off without turning the whole car off and back on.

I purchased this car to upgrade from a smaller midsized luxury SUV to have the third row option and larger trunk space. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The Volvo XC90 has superb driving, excellent luxury features my favorites including the touch screen display, foot activated tailgate, and heads up safety display. This is a very comfortable ride and front and back seats are well constructed and roomy. Knowing how safe this vehicle is, as well, is a required bonus.
