This is a beautiful car that drives well. But we’ve had nothing except problems with it since buying it on July 1. 1) in August about a month into owning and less than 500 miles driven, it pulled to the right hard. I took it in and they re aligned and gave new tires. 2) in Sept about 2 months into ownership the CEL turned on. The error code was for “bank one too lean”. They replaced the oil trap. 3) days after repair the CEL came on again. Same error code and now they recommend replacing the Mass Air Flow sensor. TBD if this fixes the issues.

Cons

Braking: the brakes are very noisy at low speeds
Cost to Maintain: I’ve had to take it in 3 or 4 times in less than 4 months of ownership. insane!
Value: not cheap

NOTE: CAR NOT LISTED IN DROP DOWN MENU FOR REVIEW. CAR IN QUESTION IS A 2019 BMW X3. This is the third car I have purchased through CarMax and have also sold two to them. All good transactions except for this one. The sales pro in this instance was wonderful. Unfortunately, the car was not inspected well by CarMax and has had issues not disclosed at the time of sale costing me money immediately after the purchase. Specifically, CarMax is usually great at putting new tires on their cars, when appropriate. They were not replaced in this case on the X3 I purchased. When I took the car into my mechanic, the front right tire had a large piece or rubber cut out of it and it had been switched to the inside of the wheel where not obvious. Thus, I now have to replace my tires at my expense. I drove to the CarMax in Escondido as they had the car I really wanted. Unfortunately, it is not a convenient drive for me to take it back and have it addressed. There were also issues in one of the seatbelt sensors and a slow leak in the rear left tire. I shared the low tire pressure warning on my dash when purchasing the car. They put more air into it on the spot, but once home, the warning light came on again. I had to take the car in to my mechanic and also have that slow leak addressed. That was when he pointed out the interior damage to the front tire which I shared above. The brakes squeak loudly and the mechanic states it's because they used non-OEM brakes when replacing them. Again, another issue that should have been found on inspection and shared in the buying process. This takes all of the joy of a new purchase away! CarMax...Inspect the car more thoroughly or don't advertise your inspection process as a benefit when selling the vehicle. Really disappointed in the lack of effort and misstated inspection process!

Braking: The car has non-oem brakes installed which squeak loudly. This is an easy catch as CarMax states that a break inspection is part of their car review process. In this case, it is costing me!
Reliability: Items that are stated to be covered in the inspection process are not actually inspected. Details specified above. Multiple items that are obvious when inspected which were not shared in the purchase process, costing additional monies immediately following the purchase from CarMax.

In this price bracket, the XC90 packs a lot of features. The pilot assist is most impactful as it will self-drive up to 80mph which is a god-send during traffic. It's a great looking SUV, the interior is quite luxurious, very roomy and looks gorgeous as I get a lot of compliments from passengers. The air suspension and B/W sound system are practical must-haves. The engine power is adequate and mpg is as expected from a modern SUV. Cons would be road noise abatement can be better and the Sensus system can be a bit slow but at least Volvo provides software and maps updates. Overall, after a 2600 mile road trip, it's quite the trooper and shuttled my family in a lot of comfort and safety

Safety: There are so many safety features, paired with the semi-auto feature, it kind of drives itself.
Styling: It's a very elegant looking car. The open-pore wood, real aluminum finish and fine Napa leather makes interior look like a living room.
Value: In the used price brackets, there's a lot of features packed in when compared to other Euro brands.

Cons

Cabin Noise: Depending on road type, it can get pretty loud. I think it should be a lot better given it's a luxury car.
Power: It's adequate but can use more. The hybrid model is a lot more expensive.
Fuel Economy: For a small engine, MPG is only about par with other SUVs. Hoping for better.
