2023 Audi S5 Sportback review

1. Standard V6 engine offers punchy acceleration and performance 

You will only find one engine under the hood of the 2023 Audi S5 Sportback, but it’s a very impressive one: a 3.0L turbocharged V6 motor, good for 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Put your foot down, and you’ll feel all that power kick in off the line, transmitted to the road via an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive chassis. And in just 4.3 seconds, you’ll have gone from zero to 60 mph, and most likely will have a massive smile on your face in the process. 

2. Confident handling with plenty of grip 

Powerful as it may be, the 2023 Audi S5 Sportback is far from just a straight-line warrior. The all-wheel-drive system helps keep the car planted in the corners and accelerate out of them with ease, aided by sports suspension that comes as standard on all 2023 models. If you want the most exciting driving experience possible, the S Sport package is a must — this adds adaptive suspension dampers, as well as a sport rear differential with torque vectoring to help put the power down as effectively as possible in the bends.  

3. Sleek and stylish inside and out 

From the unique hatchback-style roofline to the leather and faux suede upholstery in the cabin, the 2023 Audi S5 Sportback just oozes curb appeal from every angle. The exterior has subtle, refined styling from front to back, and that continues right through the sleek, well-equipped interior. Standard luxury features include a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable heated front seats with massage functions, and LED cabin lighting.  

4. Numerous technology features up and down the trim list 

As befits a slick and modern luxury sedan, the 2023 Audi S5 Sportback comes with plenty of tech features. A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay® wireless connectivity is included as standard, alongside driver convenience tools like forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning. The Premium Plus trim adds to that with a digital instrument panel, wireless charging pad with signal booster, and a surround-view camera system. And rounding off the lineup, the Prestige trim adds a navigation system with traffic sign recognition, a heads-up display, and an automated parking system.  

5. The trunk is roomy and useful 

That hatchback roofline isn’t just for style; it's also designed specifically to allow for a spacious trunk. So while your passengers relax in the comfortable cabin, there’s more than enough room for their luggage and items behind the rear seats, with a total of 21.8 cu-ft of cargo volume. That should be more than enough for your daily needs, but should you require a bit of extra space, the rear seats also fold flat for extra storage space.
