Off-road ability in an attractive package

The Jeep Patriot debuted in 2007 and has carried on ever since. The 2017 model has good off-road ability with the available Freedom Drive II and it looks the part too, with rugged styling. If you’re looking for something practical that can keep up with snowy drives, the Patriot is worth looking at.

5 reasons to buy the 2017 Jeep Patriot

1. Great off-road

The available Freedom Drive I four-wheel drive is worth keeping an eye out for as it gives the 2017 Patriot some off-road ability. This makes it a practical vehicle for daily driving, especially if you regularly tackle snowy weather. If you want some more serious off-road ability, look out for models with the Freedom Drive II four-wheel drive, which increases ability even further with a brake lock differential, underbody skid plates, an automatic transaxle with 19:1 crawl ratio, and hill descent control.

2. Fun optional features

Look out for fun optional features that make the 2017 Jeep Patriot a great lifestyle vehicle. If you regularly host tailgate parties, look out for the available flip-down speakers. These are part of the Premium Sound package, which also includes a Boston Acoustics® premium sound system. If the speakers and sound system are must-haves but you want more, look for the Sun and Sound package which also adds a power sunroof with express-open/close and a sliding sunshade.

3. Engine options

There are two four-cylinder engine options available for the 2017 Jeep Patriot. The standard engine is a 158-horsepower 2.0L model but there’s an optional 172-horsepower 2.4L engine that you’ll find as standard on 4X4 models. If you’re looking for economy, go for the 2.0L, which gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined on front-wheel-drive models.

4. Versatile utility

The 2017 Jeep Patriot is a versatile SUV. If you’re looking to haul people and things, you’ll enjoy the 23 cu-ft of cargo space in the back of the Patriot. If that’s not enough, you can fold the rear seats to open up 53.5 cu-ft. You’re also able to tow with the 2017 Jeep Patriot if you have the Trailer Tow package and 2.4L engine — you’ll get an estimated 2,000 lbs of towing capacity when properly equipped.

5. Good looks

If you want something that looks rugged and capable, the Jeep Patriot is a good option. Look out for the Sport trim if you like the look of black roof rails, exterior door handles, and liftgate appliqué. The Sport SE is also a good choice if you’re looking for a few luxury features, such as a leather steering wheel, premium vinyl and Sport Mesh cloth seats with accent stitching, and illuminated cup holders.
