Land Rover Range Rover

The latest generation of the Land Rover Range Rover refines what had been built up over decades. With a new V8 engine and an available plug-in hybrid variant, the Range Rover offers the latest in drivetrain technology. A third-row seat is also available for the first time in Range Rover history, making the SUV even more versatile. Buyers have many decisions to make, starting with the standard-wheelbase or long-wheelbase model with its included third row, as well as a choice of three trim levels.

Buyers can select from three engine options: a turbocharged six-cylinder, a turbocharged V8, or the six-cylinder with plug-in hybrid system. All Range Rovers come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Additional tech includes four-wheel steering, Terrain Response modes for off-road driving, an air-ride suspension that controls ride height, and a luxurious, tech-forward interior.

The fourth-generation Land Rover Range Rover lasted through a period of rapid change in technology, particularly infotainment, so year-by-year changes can be important. The generation launched with either a non-turbocharged or supercharged V8 engine providing power through an automatic transmission to a full-time four-wheel-drive system. To deliver the off-pavement readiness Range Rovers require, a low-range gear set for difficult off-road driving situations is standard. Land Rover's Terrain Response system was available on all models, but the more advanced Terrain Response 2 system was also available, and it was standard on Range Rover Supercharged models.

This generation quickly added V6 and supercharged V8 engine options, as well as the first generation of a plug-in hybrid system with 19 miles of all-electric range.
